I have a 5000 watt Husky/Subaru generator. I was a bad boy and left gas in it for a period of time. Gummed it up. Took carb off and cleaned everything out. Reinstalled - starts right up. But the idle/governor never kicks down after setting the choke to run. Does anyone happen to have the correct procedure to adjust this? there are no idle screws and I am pretty sure the adjustment is the governor rod itself. But would really like the correct procedure to set the governor/idle speed.

Put a meter that reads Hz on it and see what Hz it's running at first. Somewhere around 60-64 hz depending on how the governor works, mechanical or electronic Governor?

If I recall correctly it is supposed idle down when there is no load. It is currently not doing that and is running at an extremely high idle.

It is a mechanical governor - there is a rod that adjusts the throttle.

I will try the meter.. thanks
