I highly doubt this is a made up factory but are all Husky cabinets made in Canada?

http://www.diynetwork.com/videos/husky-tool-chest-video/21944.html

I was in Home Depot today and saw a 52" (approximately) roller cabinet with wood top for $389. I didn't stop to look at it but it looked really nice...especially at that price. Wouldn't mind picking it up as I need a new cabinet anyway but it would sway my decision if it were made in Canada and China.

The video isn't working for me.

It's true that at least some Husky cabinets used to be made in Canada, but I'm pretty sure (like 99%) that they were made in the old Beach factory in Smith Falls, ON that was acquired by Stanley.

Stanley closed that plant a few years ago (announced the closure on Canada Day, no less :mad::mad:), so they aren't made there any more for sure...

The 52" Husky in my HD was assembled in the US. Not really sure what that means, but I doubt much of it was made here. Also, FWIW, it was basically the same quality as the Craftsman lower end boxes. It was also selling for $299. I passed personally. It seemed really rickety.

The only husky boxes that were made in Canada to my knowledge where the old double banks there were rebadge Mac and Proto boxes. Also some of the better 26" boxes were too, but I don't think home hepo has carried anything of any quality in 5 or so years.

So has anyone seen that 52" roller cabinet with the wood top there? I saw it at my local HD and didn't even bother to stop and look. I just figured I'd review it online. I went to HD's website and it's nowhere to be found. pipsters, is this the one you're referring to? It looked really nice and for $368....not a bad price.

@pipsters: BTW, I called the 800 number on the Craftsman sheet and this time rather than going to Craftsman, it directed me directly to Denahar/Apex. They were really friendly...took my catalog numbers and said they'd be in the mail. Thanks again for the tip pip.

I stopped and looked at it. Its new, nice price but VERY thin metal...you can make the sides wiggle with a little pressure. But I'm sure it will work for a weekend warrior that's not hard on a box. HF boxes are nicer and I'm sure made in the same factory.
