Even though the 56" doesn't say it in the title, they are both the "industrial" version of their box. The 52" isn't any more heavy duty than the 56".

I personally own the 52" one, kinda wish I sprung for the 56.

According to the links I posted, the 52" supports 120# / drawer but the 56" supports 100#.

Oh, interesting, you are right! I looked over both of these models quite a bit before purchasing and didn't notice that difference at the time. I do not think there any other differences as far as strength is concerned though, they are both 18 gauge steel with the same casters.

The reason I chose the 52" at the time was because it was on sale and the 56" wasn't.

Yea, sales could push me one way or the other.

The 56" appears to hold a good bit more ... and I'd like to make this a one time buy.

There have been two versions of the 52" industrial cabinet / chest combo they've come out with. The first version, had the 100# drawer rating and the newer version has the 120# drawer rating.

I got the 52" version in June 2017 (HD had it on sale for $598). It doesn't have anything more "industrial" than the 56" version. The 52" top box does have a 5" tall drawer. IIRC, that is the only drawer that was tall enough to store deep well sockets on rails (other than the bottom chest drawer). The 52" does have a single lockable drawer, that is lockable independent from the others. I'm sure the locks can be changed, but I wish the top and bottom boxes used the same key instead of having a key for each box. It's not a tool truck box, but it also didn't have the tool truck price tag, either. For my use, it's a great box.

I have a 52" (IIRC) and I'm very happy with it. It's plenty of room for my (admittedly small) collection of tools, and seems to do just fine with regular use. Drawer layout was a big factor for me, I prefer Kobalt over Husky but the Husky drawer layout was notably better for a similar price.

I would base it on the drawer layout and price, above all else. I find the regular Husky boxes are well made, I would imagine the "Industrial" ones are as well but I didn't have the coin for one.

I have the 52" and it's been good so far.

That said, had I known I would have waited and gotten the new deeper drawer Harbor Freight offerings in red/blue/black. Had no idea one of the first consequences of the tariff wars was going to be better value chinese-made tool chests.

That Dewalt looks like the Craftsman pro series box. Same specs actually. Played with one at Sears and it's a pretty impressive box. Seems very heavy duty

I’ve been looking at the 56” lately. I like the drawer layout and heights better than the 52”

56" does look better layout, my preference is the 24" deep workbench with stainless top. When on offer that a pretty good buy .

I have had the 52” for about 7 months and I have no complaints. Be sure to check it out before you leave the store. I have to return two of them due to being damaged in the box from the factory. This thing is extremely heavy so it was not fun unpacking it then repacking it up and lugging it back to Home Depot.

The Home Depot's near me all have several of the the 52" in stores already assembled on display. The 56" isn't in stock nor is the option even available for delivery to my home or to any store "within 100 miles" for me. No idea why, but it's that way with a LOT of items on Home Depot's website. They assemble the tool chests they do get right off the truck and don't keep any in stock still in the box.

The display ones don't look new as everyone has been yanking on the drawers and whatnot, plus I live more than 30 miles away I didn't know how I was supposed to get both pieces secured in my truck so they wouldn't get damaged. I went to customer service and asked if it was possible to get one still in a box, they said no. I had ask for a manager. He said he could put a 'will call' hold order on the next one they have delivered. I had to wait almost amonth before I got the call it was in.

Yeah store near me has same issue puling all out of boxes and getting in right mess.
Chap working with me got 2 56" international cabinets for 800bucks the pair, keys missing and possibly accessories plus dirty as hell.
New locks and a clean and all was good plus liners and handles present so good deal for him, no idea how make money making it all out the box/used prior to selling it !? whacky retail practise ...

If you really want the 56” box, you needn’t worry about the 100# rating. The longer the drawer, the lower the rating. (Its that physics thing). If you have the shackles, or especially if the 56” is on sale, get what you WAAAANNNNTT and you’ll always be happy. If you get the one you really didn’t want instead, you will always be sort of unhappy/dissatisfied/or sorry that you didn’t wait (read save your money like a tightwad till you have the money) or just spring for it now. Once you have it, you’ll see one happy puppy.

I have the 56. Bought it recently. Really blown away with the quality and finish. The soft-close drawers are awesome. Drawers are plenty - and well dimensioned - and the top is spacious with the power bar useful. This seems very well thought out and I'd recommend it highly.
