I need some extra tool storage and limit on space. I have a small work bench and looks like I could fit this Husky box under it. I'm pretty sure some of you have experience with it. Just wondering how it's holding up. I'm just a DIY guy so won't be using the box too much.

I have the Harbor Freight "Yukon" equivalent, but it's functionally the same box. I have mine in the exact layout you are describing and I'm very happy with it. It serves as under-bench storage and can easily be rolled out to provide additional work surface when needed.

I swapped the factory casters for a set of 4 swiveling/locking casters that were also a bit shorter. This enabled it to clear my workbench vertically without raising the bench and allows me to dock/deploy it straight in/out without having to account for the fixed casters. Works great, and I use this feature all the time.

My wife and my good friend have this stye of box as their primary workbenches and are also very happy with them. Personally I find them a bit light/unstable as a main working surface but I think they're a fantastic supplementary option like you are considering.

I've been working out of this box for several years as a DIY'er. It serves the purpose, but I find the drawer layout leaves something to be desired. I wish it had more full width drawers, I wish the drawers pulled out a bit more for getting small stuff from the back, I wish it were 24" deep instead of 18". With all that said, you won't find a better option for the price.

Thanks. I looked at the Yukon as well. It's an option too.
As far as I can tell all the boxes in this class are very very similar.

My wife has the Kobalt version, it has a few features that are better than the Yukon:
  • Soft-close drawers
  • A built-in power strip
  • A fancier two-tone paint job
  • Slightly relieved top corners on the work top
It's overall just a bit nicer, but none of the differences are very significant.

For these 46 inch boxes I recommend just getting whichever one you can find the best deal on and/or the one that is available in your favorite color.

I have an older version that has been in my garage for about 10 years, the only issue I have had was the wide top drawer slides went out, but easily replaced with standard drawer slides. better slides makes the drawers work better.

Our Az garage is tiny, ie 20x20’, so a narrow box like that works best. Not what I want, but it’s the best solution for me.

I picked up a similar one two years ago, with a little better drawer layout, ie the right bottom drawer was a little taller so a corded circular saw fits in well

The black box showed above was on sale for $298 last week so I bought one for myself at that price and another for my son in suburban Chicago. His garage is narrow too.

Interestingly, Tucson had the army green one (although sold out) for the same price. Green was something like fifty hundred dollars higher in Naperville, although I don’t remember exactly. All the other colors were, I think, $398.

Hope my grandson remembered to pick it up, since his dad was in China again.

The boxes are pretty light, being rated at only 100 lbs per drawer, but I doubt you could overload them, with the possible exception of the full width top drawer. They work for me, though.

They’re not HF US General quality.

Never in my life did I think I would say that.

I agree with the general sentiment that while it's not perfect, it's tough to beat for the price and works well for light/medium use. Mine is probably 7 years old now. I used it at work for the first 5 years before bringing it home (responsibilities changed). Other than the drawer trim pieces wanting to slide off (easy fix with a little dab of gel super glue), I've had no issues with the build quality. The top drawer can be a bit wiggly when heavily loaded, but as long as I don't overload it, it's been just fine for me.

I have two Husky boxes, one like the OP referenced. Great value! I had mine for a few years, no complaints at all. Perfect for the home shop where they don’t get rolled around a lot.

I have the same box for secondary storage. It has a good work surface if you're not planning on beating things. The full-width drawer is nice for longer tool storage.
It's been a good box for the value.

I have a slightly larger Husky box than the one you linked to but it’s been a good addition for to my shop and has held up well over the last three years.

I took the wheels off and set it on a permanent wood platform made out of 2x6’s.
