Just how old are Husky tools?? I picked up this Husky 3/8 ratchet #CB41G today at an estate sale and it looks like it's been around a long time.

They've been around since the mid 20's.

That's probably from the late 40's-50's. That's a design that was also made under the New Britain and None Better and Mustang brands.
If it's like the Mustang ratchet I have then a drawback is that it's not easily disassembled.

I just checked it out and to disassemble it theres a snap ring burried on the rachet face that looks like it'll be difficulft to get to. So I stuck it in a jar of trans fluid. I've wanted to try the trans fluid lube method since reading about here a few days ago. Already had a long reach 1/2 drive Rigid ratchet in there I picked up the other day with an old-school Craftsman round head on it.

How about probably no older than 1946? Found the/a patent:
#2542241, Feb. 1951, John Fors to New Britain Machine Company (applied for in 1946).

How about 8 "different" models:

front to back: New Britain, Fairmount, None Better, Precision-Bilt, Husky, Filson, Mustang, Blue Grass

The diagrams in the patent show the ratchets pictured in front with the screw thru the selector lever,
not the ones in the back with the pressed on lever.

Have to keep looking to see if there's a separate patent for the pressed lever models.

Hey, cool old ratchet there Rickster. I've seen some old Husky ratchets but none like yours.
