I have the husky 26" top box. It's been pretty solid. I bought the 4 drawer bottom about 8 months ago, and I flippin hated it. I just got the US General to replace it. It was cheap, thin, and when I loaded it with sockets it dragged hard.

I have the screwdriver set, it's nice. Nothing fancy, but they've taken their fair share of abuse.

I also have a 650lb/ft 1/2 impact. It helped me tear apart my old VR4 nicely. Broke some seriously rusted 20+ year old bolts.

I also have the cheapo set of ratcheting wrenches... they were on sale for like 15 bucks before the holidays. They are cheap, Chinese, and probably wouldn't hold up to a ton of abuse, but I don't find myself reaching for them very often. I guess for me they work. I wouldn't recommend to someone who really uses them though.

The pliers are pretty lousy I think. I have some old generic "shop basics" that my dad bought me like ten years ago. I reach for them every time over the Huskys. The vise grips are hilariously cheap, IMO.

Like others have said, just pick and choose. I wouldn't mind trying out the 1/2 and 3/8 USA branded torque wrenches.

The Husky stuff I have has been a pretty good value, but when I picked up a cheap 26” tool box during the last Black Friday promotion it was just bad. The price was right, but the construction was so poor I had to return it. Went with a Homak Professional from Mills Fleet Farm instead. The dimensions I needed precluded me from using a HF box since I was fitting it under a workbench.

I am very pleased with the Homak, it was a little more money than the Husky but much better materials and construction. I think it’s on par with the HF US General stuff and priced pretty favorably also.

I do like Husky's tool bags, nice construction and good value.

I understand what you're saying, and mine isn't my primary box, I use the HF 44" for that. I don't think it's a "load it with sockets" type of box and I try to stay close to the weight rating. I use the Husky for the square footage of stuff I don't reach for regularly. Tin snips, blow molded cases, files, chisels ect. The sheet metal is pretty thin (I'll check the gauge when I get home) and can seem cheap right out of the box. I'll mention it again, rivet the slides, makes a HUGE difference. That being said, I don't know that ALL the 26" are made by Waterloo. If you're using this as your primary box take a good long look before you decide. Then again, the setup I am recommending is $170. What can you get for under $200? Heck even the HF 26" is $299 with coupon, but that is a much better box.

I have a couple of Husky socket sets that I keep in the cars, and with the limited amount I have used them they hold up pretty well.

I got a set of Allen wrenches a few months ago and they are pretty weak. Broke 2 of them right away, but they are cheap.

I have a Husky labeled 20 gallon upright compressor that is actually Campbell Hausfield. Its been going good for 12 years. Had to replace the pressure regulator once.

I have no gripes with the top box. I overloaded it a lot at first, and did great.

I picked up the bottom only because I wanted it to match. I think I got it for right around $100, so I guess expecting a lot would be silly. I was just surprised at the difference in quality between the two. All my drawers were bent once I unboxed it. I took the thing back, and all the others in stock were bent. I settled on one that was fairly minor, and got another $15 lopped off the price.

But yeah, I guess you're right. For under $200 it's hard to complain, and isn't meant for a very heavy duty application. I should have done research before making the impulse buy.

On the bright side, it will house my Mom's gardening tools just fine.

It does. I've seen the boxes be made both ways. Yours has the dividers on the top, right?

The ball on mine is welded directly to the box, and I just clip the strut to that. I also have a completely flat bottom. I guess I have the oddball as the display was like yours.

Yes. Mine has the dividers. It is Husky branded, but made by Waterloo.
They (Husky) have 2 different versions of this box.:dunno:
The Waterloo made one, and the other China made one. You can tell by the part #'s-Not to mention mine has a sticker inside that says Waterloo on it.
This model is the Waterloo part # Model # 2616BKCH6STHD
This model is the other Model # H6CH3
Same box, price and set up, different manufacturers

I bought my father the Stanley produced metric combo wrench set. He is an Indestro SAE fanatic. He likes them enough for his purposes as a DIY. The newer Apex items are better.

Well, I am going to throw a monkey in the wrench...

My guess is there are 3 boxes, that are all a bit different. The box I have is a Waterloo box, without the dividers, strut mounting points welded on, and the Waterloo phone number on the sticker. Still assembled in the USA of global components though.

I think mine might be the later version of the Waterloo box as my model number is slightly different... Model # 2616BKCH6STHD.1. I think the .1 makes the difference here.

I bought a Husky 8 gal compressor at Home Cheapo for a more portable unit than the big Crapsman I have in the garage. Assembled the unit, plugged it in and it seemed fine, if a bit louder than I had hoped for an oil unit, until I noticed the regulator housing had a crack that allowed air to escape to the point of not being able to fill the tank. HD, without hassle, refunded my money ($138), now I am debating whether, or not, to buy another or move to a more conventional pancake style unit.

I've got the 8 gallon unit that was on clearance a few years ago for $50. It's been fine and I've had no trouble. Mine was red vs. the black unit they offer now but they look similar. I'd probably give it another shot.

I will most likely give the Husky another chance, as I bought it with HD gift cards and the refund was as well so I am stuck with the choices they have and, for the money, that seems to most fit my needs.

Looks like HD no longer carry the Husky 3/8" flex-head extendable ratchet?

I guess so. I bought mine back in the beginning of 2013. Mine had a sticker that said Waterloo on it I should have taken a pic of it:twak: and the manual had Waterloo Industries on the bottom corner, but no address. Mine, just as yours said "Assembled in USA of global components".
The second one I bought, about a month or so later, there was no mention of Waterloo anywhere on the sticker, box, or manual. But it also said "Made in USA of global components". I'll have to get a pic of the sticker-I think it's still on the back of the box-I like the box and the depth of it. I'm glad I didn't go with the overpriced C-Man.
Here's the pic of the one tag i have:
