Couldn't figure where to put this Husky USA 1/4 drive ratchet. this seems a good place.

It caught my eye because of kind of odd shape for a small ratchet. I should have had a scale beside it, the pictures probably make it seem larger, but it's just 5 inches tip to tip.

I googled and searched here for the numbers but didn't find anything.

HUSKY 62 (on back)
H8860 MADE IN USA (anvil side)

That is the Husky brand name, not the Husky company name, from the late 1940's, well after the acquisition of Husky by New Britain, which re-used the name as a brand. The ratchet is a Fors patent that New Britain used for a very brief time on NB, NONE BETTER, and even their third party products (Spiegel Precision-Bilt, etc), between the late 30's/40's Costello patent and the 50's Kilness round head patent.

Nice ratchet! I think lugz covered all the details.
Boy howdy! Lugz, amazing detail, sounds cool to me. Thanks toolguy.

No pic showed up? Here's a 1930ish set. Notice it's all 1/2" square drive.

Snap on is common by comparison, just have to keep your eyes open as early husky stuff does pop up.

Looks like the handle has been replaced. In 1923 and 1924 Snap-on sold car kits, with the contents customized for each car, advertised in Motor Tool Speciality Company catalogs, in leather bags. Snapmom and I have talked about them relative to an idea I have had to re-create one, because nobody has ever seen one. That case looks different though. Maybe not. Hard to tell.

I actually ran across a canvas one pretty recently I'll see if I have picture but here's some more pictures of this one I spent about a month looking for one similar to no avail but then again I have only been into this stuff for about 4 months which is why I didn't keep it I felt someone with a more serious connection should have it

I have never seen that box before. We all have regrets. There are things I wish I had back. But yeah, that is a keeper. Likely very, very rare. Does it open anywhere else? Or just end load/unload like that? Cool shape. I have an old Hinsdale roughly that shape, but it unfolds in halves.

Pretty much just opens up like a mailbox with that one shelf and 2 trays inside. If you ever want to trade some husky for snap on let me know I have a decent amount but I'm sure not as much as a lot of the long time collectors

Yea unfortunately I don't have that set anymore and the friend I sold it to I'm sure wouldn't let it go. I will have to get a better understanding of the way this site works but for now just one last question here not completely related to husky. I just bought a couple sockets one has very snap on like font and sort of similar look but the knurling is a little different and it is hex drive. I have had many sockets that looked close but after research were pretty easily identified even without markings but these sockets have me stumped. I got them online and don't have them yet so maybe in person will be easier but one is unmistakably S/0 1 5/8 but it looks to big to be 5/8 drive but I have never seen or heard of a 7/8 drive S/0 and I don't know about this hex drive socket either. Any input?

Also I do have a few things that are a little more obscure I'd be willing to trade but I guess I don't know what's obscure to a long time collector but I don't really have a need for these as they don't go really with any other sets I have and i would be willing to trade for husky stuff. My camera isn't the best but pretty much anything in the picture I would trade. Maybe sell but I'm not really looking to sell. The nut spinner case is empty and I got rid of the sockets to get something else and replace later but I do have the nut spinner and a couple specialty midget sockets and a
2501 , 2503 and 2506 and 6 adapters the 3 to the right are pre date and one is 32 and one is 28 and the others a little newer. Okay I'm done ha sorry I'm just really getting into the old husky stuff and since it didn't take me long to accumulate a decent amount of snap on it's a little frustrating not being able to find husky stuff as easily. Usually a lot cheaper as it's not well known but I have been known to spend every last dollar to my name to get a cool tool set that I want

Fixed the box for my 1/2" drive set. Jims made some replacement decals as old ones were spray bombed over.

Wow that looks amazing! Looks like I have some mismatched stuff I have that speeder and ratchet and extension but my sockets aren't 12 Point like that. Hopefully I'll come across some more at some point. I love seeing these sets did they ever make a square drive ratchet that is the Same size as the snap on ones or just a hex one? I saw someone post a picture showing comparison definitely matches up better than this

You happen to ever see one of these? I can't find any info but the font style really makes me think of husky
