I found a SAE set of Husky USA sockets (I assume made in USA?) they are basically new, probably never really used as they were sitting in a box in the garage that usually has arts / crafts stuff, and has been taped shut for years, are they worth keeping around the house? compared to HF tools at least

Those would be New Britain/Stanley. About the same as the Danaher US Craftsman. Comparing to HF depends on which line. Taiwan Pittsburgh Pro is comparable. They're about 10x better than Chinese Pittsburgh.

I've used husky USA tools, on par with craftsman.
are they the smooth shiney ones or the dull(or shiney) textured ones?
the shiney ones are a bit longer. the textured ones are a little shorter(not close to stubbies short).
if they're more than about 15 years old they probably are made in USA.
if the "H" in husky has an extended line as in the right vertical line in the letter "H" looks like a letter "L" its a good chance it's made in USA.
and of course what you intend to do w/ 'em depends, but I wouldn't be afraid to use 'em for home use.
I have some I use at home and I really use 'em rough. right, but rough
the only one I messed up was 'cause I used it wrong like a dummy.
and when I said rough I do take care of my stuff, but in my garage i'm working on 50/60/70 year old cars/motorcycles/bicycles

Hi, I have used a set of these for 25 years or so. Good stuff, as other said, very similar to US Craftsman quality of the same era. Keep 'em, use 'em, and be happy you have a nice US set of tools. SK is better. I have a small set of those too, but Husky/Craftsman are 80% as good as the SK I would say. SK just have better fit and feel using them. Any get the job done. - Paul
"Husky USA" isn't a brand name. The USA tells you up front where they're from. Husky sockets made in China or Taiwan just say "Husky."
I know husky USA isn't a brand name, I was telling everyone what the socket said. Some things will still say USA and not be made in USA so i figured i would double check before assuming.
