The HD I use never has any on the floor but if the quality is anything like the new Husky boxes I would pass. I have the HF 5 drawer and after a year and a half it is holding up great. I did have to replace the lid struts ( got them from an aftermarket company- much better then the original ones ) the only other problem I ran into was that the lid would not close with long handle pry bars inside. I solved that by installing a sunex pry bar/screwdriver holder on one side. all in all I really like the HF cart.

which one has more usable space? 4 or 5 drawer? By usable i mean, are the two tiny drawers in the 5 drawer good for anything i'd use it for or would i be better off with the 4?

You aren't out of room you just need to organize better... I have a 43 and have more tools in it than most guys do in a double bank.

The 5 drawer is absolutely worth the money.

The small drawers are very useful.

How dare you ask that here. You know the HF boxes are made by the hand of the value god himself. Seriously though go put your hands on both. See what works and feels better to you. I also agree with mrfrantz a little better organization and you would still have some room. But you will run out eventually it seems.

5 drawer HF gets my vote. Have one and love it and currently looking for another one on craigslist to cut up and make into a welding/grinding cart.

you can get a couple of small plastic trays for the chisels and small pliers . I got some small aluminum cooking pans at garage sales that work great for small tools, drill bits, and sawzall blades too.

You have plenty of room left. Throw a lot of your extensions and such in a 3 section Hansen box. Also your pliers should be in a rack or something. When they are all layed on their side it takes up a lot of space
Being organized and being saving space/space organized are two different things
Don't feel bad tho...atleast I don't see you having a lot of plastic trays. There are a lot of guys on here that have tools in huge triple bank boxes that could easily be put in a small double box

As far as the plier rack, i think most of my pliers width is the height of the drawer or better, but i'll have to double check. I'll take your word for it. Any suggestions on a pliers organizer? I've seen them on here. I will also check out the hansen. The reason i haven't put in trays and such is as you stated, more room. But i guess the benefit of trays is being able to go upwards with stacking and not outwards. I don't mind chisels/punches and such being stacked up or loose bits. If i could find a bunch of organizational tools for my box instead, i'd rather spend my money there. The power tool drawer is pretty much how it has to be as far as i can tell.

Don't quote me on the 3 part tray. I'm not sure if that's Hansen. I think it's another brand and I can't remember what it is. I got it on the snap on truck for 10bucks
For the pliers rack. I got mine off the truck but I seen people make them from the wire shelve racks from lowes/Home Depot.

I use dollar store trays for extensions / Misc stuff. Plier rack you may have to put in another drawer. Wrench rack too

The red 5 drawer HF cart has the same cult following as the HF44 roller cabinet. The cheaper black unit is actually quite good as well, but it's not that much more for the red one.

It's an "ernst " tray. I stenciled the sizes on it

I have 3 of the Husky ones. I would trade all three for one of the red ones from HF. I'm not kidding either if someone wants to take me up on it.

In store, at least locally for me, the Husky cart is 149.** vs the HF cart usually sitting around 169.** so that may influence your decision - maybe not.

I've handled the Husky cart and while it's a quality unit, I'd still prefer the HF over the Husky just due to it being a bit more rugged and the 5 vs 4 drawer option.

I have two HF carts, one since about 2010 and it's held up remarkably well, albeit I'm not a pro or work in a shop, etc. Plus, I like the 5 drawers vs just the 4 on the Husky unit. HF now also sells the side shelf that mounts right up to their cart and I've also added the Sunex prybar holder.

All things considered, they're pretty comparable and don't think you could really go wrong with either one. My only "gripe" about the HF unit is that it's red and not really a fan of red, but a paint job down the road will change that.

We've all seen countless mods & additions to the HF unit and I don't doubt the Husky wouldn't be up to task with regards to modifications either and it'd be interesting to see someone that has one and what mods they've performed on it.

Extra tool carts can end up being more of a contribution to floor space clutter than they are worth. Consider a long shelf about 60" above the floor, with tool racks mounted beneath for oversized, specialty, and less used tools. Then take an open minded look at Your existing tool cart.. Some of those "Display Drawers" could be rearranged to hold three or four times the tools now in them..

Not intended to sound so dang negative; just speaking from years of experience.

have to add; I like Your SnapOn cart, and the Blue color is awesome. :D

Not taken negatively, helpful though. I will look at ways to organize. I don't know all the products out there so i will need help. I think my pliers and driver drawer can be neatened up as well as my extensions/universals. The allens can be put on a rail as well as the torx in the top. Helllllllp!

I bought a Husky at Christmas a smaller one for my house garage. I regretted the purchase after I stopped at HF on my way home that day the HF is way stronger. Thicker steel and less flimsy. Not impressed with the husky and I love the big red box I have from HF also.

Thanks guys. I decided to just start yet another thread. if i can get my current box organized without buying a toolcart, i'd be happier with that. less room in my garage taken up as someone had stated. It's at least come a long way when i first started buying tools. I used to keep them all in their plastic cases, talk about loss of space!
