Husky vs US General 56"

I have a Craftsman 41" top and bottom tool box...I want to go to a roller box so I have a bench top to work on...
looked at the Husky tonight at Home Depot,, the deep one I think is like 52" x 20" deep..the slides say 100 pound,,,I put some weight on it ,,,no way they will hold 100 pounds..

So is the US General heavier made ? How do you get the best price on the US General ?

I have been upgrading my shop during the past year and have added Husky, US General, and Lowes tool boxes. The US General is the most sturdy but it was also the most expensive. I made tops for most of the boxes using 2x6s and 2x8s. All of them are doing well in their dedicated areas. I guess it really depends on what you expect the box to do. Mine hold a variety of items from screws to power tools and specialty wood.

Lower cost boxes are great for workbenches--esp if you make a nice top with a backsplash and some overhang. I especially like the deep drawers for my miscellaneous stuff. But more expensive boxes are probably warranted if you intend to store heavy hand tools.

US general boxes getting new models so keep an uye open for sell off of stock.
On coupon they went as low as 649.99 which most I want pay really .
41" top and bottom to a 56" not much gain but could add a side drawer hangon cabinet .
Have a look at masterforce if menards near you or hold out for new model US General 56" !
I would also look at the 60" x 24" Husky 10 drawer i cupboard cabinet/bench as that pretty decent in this sort of price range and goes as low as 500bucks on sale .

I looked at the Husky boxes, they seem thin and cheesy,,,no way those slides and drawers hold 100 pounds, I leaned on them and they distort...
Ive heard the Extreme boxes are thin too,,,guess you need a Mac or SnapOn or Matco if you want heavy..
I bought my 41" top and bottom Craftsman 20 yrs ago, its the red with grey drawer model..
No roller bearing drawers, which im ok with but I thought id like a roller box only..didn't want to go to the 72"

You need to be more specific on which Husky boxes you looked at; they are not all created equal. The same applies to most brands.

The HF 44 is heavier than the 52" Husky, the metal is considerably thinner.

I've had it over a year now and the only issue that I've had is that the top drawer slides are starting to stick. It's loaded up heavy (although most of the weight is in the rear of the drawer).

If I were to do it all over I'd have bought the HF 44. I've had one of the HF 5 drawer carts for over 3 years loaded down heavy and the drawers still slide perfectly.

not sure the actual model number they were at Home Depot in Auburn NY,,,they all seemed to be thin...I haven't looked close at the Harbor Freight box...just not sure IF my stuff would fit in the 56" one...
I will try and stop this week and look

Yes, but not by much. 20 vs 21 gauge.

The 60" matte black husky I refering to is 19 gauge .

I know a few techs who use one and have top as notebook, diagnostic tool use and general countertop type use and from handling it loaded with tools it seemed okay for that price range, pretty sure he got it for 498bucks sale price .
Is it tool truck sturdy or international SHD box sturdy well no because it like 600bucks retail not 1,500bucks plus .
You not going get much better for that sort of money, used matco or mac maybe worth looking for if got time and means and bit more budget .
Your exact options is down to budget, what is your budget .
