Husqvarna lawn mower any good?

Looking for a new push mower and I have a 10% off coupon for lowes and also get 12 months zero interest so was looking at what they have for mowers. Anyone have a husqvarna mower? Either of the models I linked? How are they?

It's been a no-problem, 1 pull start , pleasure to use.

I bought a new mower last season to use commercially. I was looking at an awd Husqvarna with Honda motor or Honda with Honda motor. They were roughly same price. My dad has had a Honda for about 15 years with no real problems. The dealer I went to recommended the Honda as well. Mind you it was a private mom and pop shop, not a big box store, and they recommended the cheaper of the two for commercial use. The decks are much stronger and obviously so are the motors or the husky wouldnt have used it. I used it 2-3 days a week all last summer and for about a month so far this year and it's been awesome. The picture below was taken while using the mulching option and you can see there are no clumps or anything left behind. This is a great mower

I've had a 775ex with the rear wheel drive for about three years I think. If you have any slopes in your yard the rear drive is much better than the usual front drive movers. I use it in mulching mode and have some pretty thick zoysia that I leave taller and it never bogs down. Love mine.

Made by AYP, so your getting the same quality as Poulan or Poulan Pro, not a fan of ttheHonda GC motor lowest quality of the Honda engine line. We sell them at the place I work at, seem to be a throw away after 2-3 years. Go buy a Honda from a Honda shop or Toro.

My Honda has the GCV160 motor. What is the difference between the GC and GCV motors?

I bought a Husqvarna weed eater couple years back and it was a pos right out the box. Didn't start worth a **** and when it did it had no power what so ever. Took it back the same day and got an echo. Couldn't be happier.

I understand this isn't a lawnmower but just giving my experience with Husqvarna. Maybe one day I'll give there products anther try and see how it goes.

I have a 10 year old (give or take) cman lawnmower that still runs strong. It's been beat to ****. Never changed or sharpen the blade. Change the oil once. Just put a new air filter yesterday. It starts with one pull. I live in fl so it gets used year around.

I have one and no problems. One pull start and quiet, plus pretty fuel efficient. I used for a "trimming" mower, but since moved and need it for a small yard. Most likely will be looking for a self propelled in the future.

I just went to the honda website and looks like all of their mowers use the GC series engine except for their top two mowers. I'm not positive but I believe my troy bilt pro line tiller has a GC 190 engine in it and my pressure washer also has a honda 190 that I think is a GC. Both have been trouble free for almost 10 years now. They don't get as much use as the mower will but they have been trouble free.

Thanks for all the feedback from everyone. I think I'm going to go with the HU800AWDH. It's 499 on sale for 449 and after 10% off it's right at 400. Plus zero percent interest. The other mower I linked to has a GS series engine which means it's "light commercial" and has a cast iron cylinder sleeve. Not sure if that's worth the extra 200 bucks or not but I think for home use(we don't have a large yard) the 400 dollar hu800awdh should be fine.

Nothing. All honda mowers use the same GC series engines as the husqvarna mowers except honda's top two mowers that use the GX series which is their commercial engine with things like cast iron cylinder sleeve.

I have a husqvarna 7021 which is the non self propelled push mower with the Honda motor. The engine purrs like a kitten and starts after one or two pills every time. However, if I my grass even gets the slightest bit long, the engine bogs while mulching. I like my grass a bit longer and usually cut it at the second to highest setting. The engine will big sometimes and leave clumps of grass. I'm not sure if it's the blade or a problem with the motor. The governor is working because you can hear it try to compensate for the bogging. I'm not displeased with the mower, but I'll be honest I did expect a bit more after hearing all the praise for the Honda powered mowers. Any suggestions what to look for? I've thought about a new gator mulching blade thinking maybe it would help and be an improvement over the stock one.

I've priced the Honda mower's with the commercial engines and they are very spendy compared to this Husqvarna. If this is a good mower, having the GSV engine for that price makes it a pretty good bang for the buck.

I've been reading a bunch of reviews and it seems like some say the mower will go through anything. One review on amazon even said it went through a yard with 2" of standing water. Not sure who would or why anyone would cut a yard with 2" of water in it? But then some say the mower stalls if the grass is the slightest bit wet. Wonder why some will cut anything and some won't cut at all?

Right, honda has 3 lines of engines from what I understand. GC, GS, GX. The GC is the "homeowner" grade and the GX is the "commercial" grade and the GS is an in between.

Well, for the $400 I paid, I've been more than happy with my Honda. It also comes with a 3 year "residential" warranty. I quickly looked at the GCV160 vs GXV160 and although the blocks and motor design may be different, they both put out roughly the same torque and horsepower. The only thing I can say I don't like about my mower is you can't disengage the blades and use the drive system alone.

I bought one for my mother (61 years old now) over 10 years ago and it's still doing great. I need to do a little service on it for the drive belt but otherwise it's been pretty problem free during the time she's owned it and still starts in 1-3 pulls.

GCV and GSV are identical except that the GSV has a cast iron sleeve. These engines are cast in North Caroline then assembled with "global components". GXV160 engines are commercial however are made entirely in China in the Honda-Jialing factory.

The 160cc OHC or commercial OHV engines are fine for home use/weekly grass cuttings. The 190cc, either sleeved or unsleeved, are actually preferred due to the added torque. The 160cc tend to stumble or stall when mulching tall and/or wet grass where the 190cc can power through. Either will bag or side discharge fine.

I have to disagree entirely with Stihlntime being critical of the OHC motors. Only way you kill a mower that quick is by doing acres or using Commercial and even then the motor will be outlasting numerous transmissions/blades/wheels etc... Honda knows how to build a small motor.


The Husqvarna's in question are decent. You're paying for the AWD feature and Honda engine as opposed to a higher quality chassis though. The AWD is also kind of wasted if you don't have hills. All the same it should last a home owner a good many years.

My only input as far as Husqvarna goes is that I've had my chainsaw & weedeater for roughly 8 years & they are both regularly used & I've had zero issues with either. Love them.
