HVAC house question...

Curious - I have one room that we put all our computers and **** in. It's now about 10 degrees hotter in here.

I was considering adjuncting this room with a portable A/C unit or a window unit, but in a brand new place - that sounds crazy.

Worst part - We work from home 2 times a week, and it gets NASTY hot. I have the A/C set to 70 now, and the room temp in here is about 88. Yikes.

Also, this room is FURTHEST from the A/C unit

House is 2100 sq ft, this is our AC:

Is there anything else I can do or should check before doing this?

Chris you have a 4 ton system which is sized right for your house 500 SQ' to a ton . I think your on the right track with the portable for the puter room and thats a good price for one . I understand your problem as SWMBO's office is the warmest room in the house with all her PC's in there . I will also add if theres no ceiling fan in the room put one in it will actually help make the room feel cooler than it is also dont keep the door to the room closed as that will hold the heat in the room .

Electronics cause a lot of heat, there for your computer room will be warmer then the others. Other options to the potable cooler would be add a return air vent preferably high on the wall (heat rises) and low, also adding another supply could help too. Another option would be to add a ductless mini split system such as Fujitsu or Samsung, this is a very expensive option but some times a very attractive option to some. Just my 2 cents.

As above, a return inlet in the room would help. Also have your furnace fan run constantly on low speed to circulate air. This balances the temp within the house. When the t'stat calls for ht or cool it then goes to a higher speed. You may also be able to balance the airflow with the dampers in your duct system to increase flow to the room.

I am guessing the room was a bedroom on the original floor plan?
If so it is probably just another register off a main duct.
It may be cheaper to have a HAVC guy come in and run a dedicated duct from the furnace to the room.
Then you could balance it without starving the rest of the house.
