Alright guys little background info on my system. i have a Lennox a/c and heat pump unit with a Lennox natural gas furnace also.
I used to have a Honeywell thermostat which was the factory installed thermostat and recently decided to upgrade to a Ecobee smart stat so i can control remotely.

problem im having the thermostat will try and kick on the heat pump but i believe i have a outside thermostat that says no when it gets below like 35 so then the ecobee will try kicking on Aux heat 1 which is nothing so the fan just blows cold air then eventually it'll kick on Aux heat 2 which then the furnace kicks on.
So basically the pic of the thermostat below is the old one so i wired it exactly the same except ecobee told me to move my white E wire into the W1 spot on there stat. Ive tried swapping the orange W2 wire into the W1 spot and leaving the white wire off completely but when it calls for aux heat then i still just get cold air and no furnace and i don't know why.

Look at the instructions on the new t-stat, theres buttons you push, to set up the thermostat for your type of system.
Some may require a jumper wire on the thermostat to initiate heat for a heat pump.
You also need to conferm that the condenser reversing valve is power open/ power shut. This is your changeover from a/c to heat Witch sounds like you have that correct.

Sounds to me that your relay in your furnace isnt sending power up to the t-stat.

Yeah I've been on support with ecobee for hours and they think the issue falls on the relay and that a HVAC professional should come out and re wire the system. I'm thinking of trying to install a jumper wire like it was before and see what happens

The ecobee should be able to do all the functions without any jumpers. It sounds like a combination of wireing and programming. The switch over temp should be handled by the Eco bee either a remote sensor or the Wi-Fi weather data (I think it can do this). Take out any relays or outdoor switch overs. Then everything should be wired y on tstat - y on heat pump, w on tstat - w on furnace. W on HP - w on furnace for defrost. G on tstat - g on furnace. O on tstat - O on HP reversing valve. Match all R's +24v, match all C's ground.
You will then need to program the thermostat for your configuration of HP with gas backup.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking I'll end up having to do. I went ahead and installed a jumper wire like it was previously set up and it's working fine.
Maybe in a couple days I'll go re wire it all with out that relay and see what happens
