Hi
I have a rental unit which is a 2 bdrm apt above a garage...apprx 750 sq ft. It's an old building with it's original wood siding.
I just found out that it costs about $400 a month to heat in the winter...which means that rent is basically doubled in the winter...
It is burns fuel oil to heat water for radiators...
First thing I'm going to look into is blown in insulation...see if it has any...any other thoughts about insulation options? Any ideas of what this would cost? Just really rough guestimates...we talking $500 or $5000?
Second thing I'm going to look at is different fuel sources...
We are in town so NG is an option...though I would need to pay the utility company to have that piped to the building right? Again, any ideas of what this would cost? Just really rough guestimates...we talking $500 or $5000?
Perhaps going to electrical baseboard heat would be an option? Again, any ideas of what this would cost? Just really rough guestimates...we talking $500 or $5000?
Corn pellets?
What questions do I need to ask myself to make a good decision as to what route to go?
Thanks!
Patrick
