Hey Guys
2nd question on my older HW
So, to make sure....I've added oil to the screw, a round flat head with a gasket on it. Pumped some hydraulic oil into it, put the screw back in and with the jack collapsed...pumped about if times. Then closed the valve and tried pumping and it goes about as high as it did before adding some oil....about 1/2 way to max height.
So am I putting the oil in the correct location? If so, and because it went no higher....should i check and maybe add more? I see no leakage anywhere. There's also another screw on the platform right near the pump itself. It's also a flat head screw but tapered and when installed lays flush. What is that screw....I see nothing inside of it except at the bottom of the hole there's a rubber disc looking thing....and it looks fine.
I've included pics of the screw under the flip up plate that I took out and put oil into and also another pic of that flat screw and the hole it goes into.
I'm just trying to get a couple jacks working with little to no real work on them and if I can't I'm just going to have to get rid of them cause with my health issues I just really don't have the umph to tear into them and I live in the sticks so there are no hydraulic repair shops around me that I know of and probably the closest in is Sacramento....maybe 35 miles from me. Anyway, any info on filling and bleeding would be of great help. I'd even read that another way to fill is with the valve open, remove the fill screw, pull the saddle up as high as it will go while pumping oil into the fill hole......then replace the screw, drop the saddle, pump the handle while valve is open 10 times or so.....then close the valve and check. That process took more hands than I had at the time and haven't tried it but wanted to check with you guys to see if that even sounds like the way to fill and bleed.
Again, thank you for any info.
