I found a baseplate 2 post Hydra-Lift for sale locally. The price is in my range. It is the 9000 pound model. Does anyone know anything about these? I tried searching, but didn't stumble on much.

I have been very happy with mine. I just redid the motor to pump coupler. First malfunction in 20 yrs. Grainger had the $10 dollar part. Trouble is I don't remember how to get it wired back up.:willy_nil

Posting pics usually gets you more help. Otherwise people are just shooting in the dark, and most avoid doing that.

It's just a simple motor (for the pump) with a momentary 'on' (up) button, right?
Seems like it's a piece of cake. What's your question? Being more specific on your issue helps people to respond, not just "Give me all the information one could ever need on this".

As it's a baseplate lift there's no crossbeam shutoff, are there even limit switches at the top of the travel?

yes sorry ..figured for the gurus here be simple which likely is but beyond me

yes simple motor for the pump --with momentary switch --other wires in there soldered to a black box thing like capacitor .......no crossbeam and is baseplate hoist and don't see any switches either --will have closer look when get home tonite and if still stumped will take pics and load

appreciate the reply

I have one.

I think I have some literature that I got with it as well.

The Hydra-Lift website in a word *****, not many actual pictures.

Did you do any modifications or did you lift come as pictures?

Your lift has what looks like "base plate extensions" if you want to call them that. I have seen one other lift before with something similar, it is a Mowhawk (I think) at a local garage. The garage owner was not sure if the lift came that way or the privious owner who bought it had modified it.

To me these would give a little more surface area for the base and help with the stability of the lift.

The one BIG problem with that type of lift is the cable/hose protector on the floor. Many times I have had to push on and off a non-running car. Pretty tough to do with that floor bump.

ok here is what is there for all the electrical gurus

left side of motor are two wires marked T4 -T5
right side of motor are two wires marked T1- T8
from the switch is a white and black ---momentary switch
from the panel is red and black
from the high limit switch there is two wires P3 and P1

10 wires total and 220V

hopefully enough info ?

I believe it's like this but not 100% sure.

Power L1 (Black) to Momentary Switch (MS) Black, MS White to Limit Switch P1, Limit Switch P3 to T4 & T5.
Power L2 (Red) to T1.

Now the problem is T8. Is the motor dual voltage? For 240V the T8 is usually tied to T2,T3 and can be switched with T5 to change rotation.

This is a common diagram.

Well, it's a used lift so likely there's a reason they stopped using it.
"Ran when parked" rarely turns out that way.

AMCguy....

Hey man! Just wanted to give you props for how nice your shop looks! Its well layed out too.

I had a couple questions... on your bay with the lift in it, What size is the garage doors? Also Was wondering how many feet the lift is "in the bay" or away from the garage door? also how many feet is between the garage door and side wall/between the lift and wall?

I looked through my Bear files and all I could come up with was a two page sales flyer. I've installed plenty of them, but they were so easy to install we never kept the instructions.

Thank you. I know the install is going to be easy. I was hoping for a parts breakdown or model cross reference with hydra-lift. The cables look to be in great shape, but I wouldn't mind replacing them if I could find a source.

I know the cables are unique to them and very thick. If they have no brokens strands, rust damage, or kinks, they should be OK. I don't recall seeing a parts list from them, nor do I remember ever having to repair one. They were built like tanks.

The only issue we ever ran across was trying to install them on floors that sloped to a drain, or weren't level. Usually not an issue in a home garage.

No idea what Hydralift model the B-52 crosses over to, but there seems to be quite a bit of HydraLift info on the web.

I do remember we used to get half a dozen at a time delivered by semi. One truck driver was a real character. He looked like Chief in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Wanted to drop his trailer and park overnight and BTW, where is the liquor store? Gave him directions and mentioned they had good prices on beer. He says "Beer? That's kid's drink! I want whiskey!"

He gets in his truck while we were unloading and it quickly became obvious he had a female companion waiting in the sleeper.
While we unloading, they started going at it hard and loud and pretty soon the trailer was rocking so violently it was hard to stand up. LOL:wtf:

Thanks again. Yah this thing was interesting unloading. Luckily I have a winch on my truck and access to ge Xray moving dollies. Everything is solid no real slop, just surface rust from being in a Midwest home shop(stupid humidity). Some new paint and some grease I think she will be good for another 25 years.

Good afternoon everyone. I have a hydra-lift model 28bp. Bought it at a good price, just needed new seals on the cylinder. Sent it out, but the shop misplaced the lift block that the cylinder goes thru. They are willing to make good on it, and have one made, but need dimensions to go by. I can't find a drawing online. I bought the manual, but wasn't much help. Any chance you guys would be willing measure that piece for me? More than willing to trade info, or toss someone a few bucks for their time. The last piece I need so I can get this installed, lol

best Guess? maybe you broke the hydraulic (metal line?) and then maybe the cable slipped off the pulley?

someone here asked me for a pic of this block. Only problem is I can't get at the white cover , as my garage is loaded with stuff right up next to the lift.

It's hard to get a good picture of the block if the lift is fully assembled and functioning.

Here's a drawing I did for another member a while back. I hope this helps.

If you are still in doubt about the electrical it wouldn't be that expensive to hire an electrician to do it. At one point I had screwed something up when I swapped wires from one breaker to another and then added a breaker. I called an electrician and he had it figured out in about 5 minutes and fixed it in another 10 minutes. It was $100 which I was real happy to pay.
