Anybody willing to admit that they have used a hydraulic crimping tool (for electrical terminals) to make crimps on wire rope ferrules?
The hydraulic crimping tool has hex dies. The dies for wire rope ferrules are round. I don't see any other difference.
Never found one that had close to the right die for them. Generally the easiest way I've seen is smashing them with two welding rods (one top and one bottom).
Never used ferrules large enough to require a crimper, only battery terminals.
We just used a pair of pliers. At CAT every machine had a lanyard in the cab or a "documents box" on the machine attached for the operator manuals and other paperwork.
