Anyone know where I can score a set of plans to build my own? I cannot justify buying a "good" one right and would prefer building it.

Thanks

Homemade Hydraulic Press

With the cutoffs from the bridge crane that I built for my garage, I fabricated my hydraulic press. Actually my 14 year old son learned how to weld on this project. It is centered around a 10 ton porta-power unit. The two uprights are 8” I-beams welded to 6” channel top and bottom plates. After the initial testing a 1/2”x4” reinforcement plate was added to the top channel. By adding adapters to the piston rod or lowering the two 6” channels can change the height adjustment. The cross channels are attached to the I-beams with 5/8” bolts on 6” centers.

It been used on may occasions including removing and installing king pins, pressing bushings, u-joints, and even breaking tire beads on my 1914 37”x 5” tires.

No one knows of a site with plans on it? Would like to get a set of plans so I don't have to worry about something going wrong.

Thanks

I feel like I have been searching for the better part of two days.....have not been able to find ones that show a finished product that I like.

There is at least one seller on Ebay that has do it yourself plans, they also sell jacks and other parts.

I bought a used press. Found a Dake 25 ton on Ebay. Normally they bring $800 to $1000 and sell for $2750 new. They have been in production for many years with no changes. The one I bought was mis advertised..... the name was spelled wrong Drake rather than DAKE, and the tonnage was listed at 10 ton. I knew it was 25, thats the smallest they make in that model. I figured that other potential buyers either did not find it or were turned off by the low tonnage. Anyhow, I got it for under $200. I had factored in the 900 mile one way drive in my 'lil Ranger to go get it, in my total cost and what I was willing to bid. Watch the Ebay ads long enough, a deal will come thru.

I've gotten lucky a couple times with the same thing. I bought a $1100.00 plasma cutter for $650.00 'cuz the guy listed it wrong. The same for a sheet metal shear...he had it listed with scissors or something like that...no one else bid and only a few people even saw the ad.

Wanna see how many people cannot spell? Do a search on Ebay for ...... hydrolic ........I just got 70+ items for sell with this badly mispelled word. If you are selling, proof your work. If you are buying, try to guess the common mispellings and go for them.
