Hydraulic solenoid on a work machine

We have a RUNI recycling machine at my work. It has jaws that compress the material ias it come out. They only are working in one direction. If I swap the connectors (1 and 2). The jaws will work in the other direction. But only one way. I think there is an electrical issue but sparks aren’t my thing. How can I test the connector for juice?

Do you have a make and model on the machine?

Sounds like a reversing switch...

Your troubleshooting proves the hydraulic valve and their coils are good. The problem is from the plug back to whatever energizes it: ice cube relay/contactor/plc output card/upstream position switch or permissive. It will be either 120Vac or 24Vdc.

I'd suggest that you contact the manufacture above and get a schematic for the machine you have. We don't know if this a old ladder logic machine or micro-processor controlled, or just a three position switch for up-off-down. When you activate for motion, does that also start the pump motor?

Turnip is correct in saying the valve is good, now you just have to find what powers each cord and follow the signal back.

This is most likely a very easy problem to troubleshoot. Got any more pictures of the controls?

Ladder logic is still used in many “micro-processor controlled” machines.

When the machine is controlled by individual relays, the wiring of the relays can be described by ladder logic. I think this is what you were going for, I would personally call that a “relay logic” machine.

Small bit to pick. Not trying to be a jerk.
