Anyone out there with a Hydro Shark III ? Thinking of getting the 10KW one to heat my 960 sq ft shop? Any good or bad information would be appreciated.

I looked up the instruction manual online. The one thing I can point out is it requires a 240vac 50 amp electrical circuit - make sure you have capacity in your shop for that, plus you should probably look at the cost of electric heat in your area to see if it's going to be affordable to operate.

Stuart- Yes electricity is one of the cheaper forms of heat that we have in Manitoba. The Shark is a modulating boiler and is only suppose to draw the necessary amperage it needs to heat the water. Just looking for someone who has one to tell me if they worked really good or if they are problematic.

I have a Siesco, which if you look hard enough I believe you wil find is the same thing in a different box, I'm heating 1200sf in 2 zones with a 7KW heater. Has run the last 2 seasons with ZERO hiccups whatsoever.
My 7KW heater draws right at 29A/phase until it gets up to temp, then it starts modulating back to approx. 19A.

TDK , thanks for the input. I have 4 loops in the floor and they are just under 250 feet per loop. Only one zone for the 4 loops. What temps do you have in the colder months? I have a 100 amp service in the shop so should be ok there. I found the Shark at Menards in Minot, ND for about $435.00. A 9.6 kw Lion boiler here in Manitoba is about $1200.00.

My place is essentially the same size. I am going to run the 12kw unit after a long discussion with one of the on line retailers of the unit. Doesn't hurt to have the additional heating capacity assuming you have enough amps to do it. This model also has a higher water temp of 125F, which shouldn't be needed for the in floor application, but I never like run electronics full design application again a head room thing.

Haven't purchased mine yet, but its definitely the way to go. Need to get the building insulated and walls up first. Getting a new paying gig would go a long way to accomplishing both.

We can get as low as -30F here but its fairly unusual, I think we got to -20F a couple nites this past winter. Not unusual to be below 0F overnite and mid teens during the day.
We did set some sort of record this winter, I think we went 60 or 90 days in a row without getting above +32F, from late November till mid Febuary.
