whats the type of film that has the paint on it which is placed in the water? That's obviously the key to the whole system. Is that paint film available anywhere? I'd love to use this in my profession

how do you price a job. sq in /sq ft by the peice. can you do a part as big as a golf cart body? i can see that being used on a ton of stuff depending on cost factors. shoot some prices on some of the stuff you have done. thanks

The film is a little tough to come by. The shops that sell equipment only offer the film to there customers(at least this is what I've run into)but I have seen a couple of rolls on ebay.
From what I know so far the dipping process is the quickest and easiest part, pre-dip prep(clean, sand and base coat)followed by post dip(clear and buff)is what really makes the process visually appealing and long lasting.

Some stuff will have a set price, some of the bigger items will be sq ft.

You can do a golf cart body if you buy the larger tanks, I bought a smaller tank(ID-35"L, 24"W, 24"D)so I can't do golf carts.
I don't have my price sheet complete yet but once my tank is picked up in about 3 weeks I will have one together but it's very reasonable. Here's a few item prices:

$150.00 for a pair of valve covers
$80.00 Air cleaner
$70.00 for helmets
$250.00 for a set of wheels
$180.00 for a dis-assembled rifle
$165.00 for a dis-assembled shotgun

Wow. after web surfing for a couple hours I'm amazed at all the stuff that being hydrodipped.

makes me want to buy a tank and go into business myself...

having done a lot of autobody work only to see a 2 minute clip on youtube where some guy sprays his fender I know how much prep is involved before the color gets laid on. I imagine this process is pretty similar. I can't imagine though if you botch a job how tough it would be to correct. This, to me anyway, is a good time to pay someone else.

Where's the spirit in that? Nothing worth doing is easy in business, this will be no different. I'm excited

Hey Jeff, don't take my comments the wrong way. I think setting yourself up is the right way to go for sure and I totally encourage that. The key is setting yourself up right. Lotsa guys, me being one of them, see a quick youtube clip and think I could jerry rig my bathtub with a couple of hockey stick shafts for damns and we'd be able to hyrdodip parts for a huge profit. I'm considering you the "pay someone else" in this case.
