I am having a garage built sometime this year. My property is not large enough for a three car garage so I am going for a slightly oversized two car garage 30’ wide by 24’ deep. That will essentially allow me to park three vehicles and have a lift to work on them when necessary. Of course the cost of building this garage has doubled in the last few years.

it seems most of the 4 post lifts are pretty narrow at the posts for drive-through. My 2012 Silverado is 8 feet to the outside of the mirrors. I know I could fold them in but if I’m backing onto the lift I kinda need those mirrors. Plus I wouldn’t wanna have an accident and hit one of those posts with my pair of 1972 Blazer‘s one is 2 Wheel Dr. and one is four-wheel-drive. I would really like to find a lift that is 9 feet between columns. I am going to have 9 foot wide doors so I would like to have the same amount of space pulling onto the lift.

so do any of you have any recommendations on brand or model number that would fit my needs? I reached out to a few of the manufacturers and surprise surprise nobody has responded.

Thanks
Mark

I can't really help you but I am pretty sure that, if you back the truck onto the lift, the mirrors will not get to the posts. I say that because every type vehicle I have pulled onto a standard asymetrical lift, the mirrors ended up past the posts.

I forgot to mention I’m looking for a four post lift. It’s been a rough day I apologize.

Thank you for trying to help but I forgot to mention I am looking for four post lift. I plan to store a vehicle on the lift the majority of the time. I don’t think I’d feel comfortable doing that with a two post lift. I do appreciate the help.

Advantage DX9000XLT is 8’8” between columns.

The Ss11000 is 9’6” between columns.

They apparently bought Backyard Buddy last year and are advertising American made lifts no, so I speculate their product lineup may be transitioning. Their site now lists Challenger lifts, so I wonder if that’s another recent acquisition..? (Just speculation).

I have one of each lifts I referenced. They’re big.

Here's a spreadsheet I put together back in 2020 when I shopped around for my 4-post. The width between columns row holds the info you're after. I ended up buying the Forward EFP9000M which is the exact same lift as Direct Lift's Pro-Park 9 Plus (it literally has both brands' stickers on the same lift).

I think HD-9XW is still just 100” between posts, which is only 8’4” and maybe tight for a full size truck with towing mirrors not folded in.

I routinely have a Ford F-350 Super Duty on my BendPak HD-XW. I’m sure your Chevy isn’t wider than that!

Where in MA? I am south of Boston, Brockton and not proud of it. Where did you purchase your lift from and are you happy with them?

Agreed. That is significantly narrower than almost every lift I spec'd out in my spreadsheet above.

If there is any way you can add a couple feet in depth, you will be forever glad you did. Once you add a workbench at the front of the garage you eat up some space quickly and it gets tight.

No and I wanted to. Part of the reason I am 30' wide is so I can have my toolboxes and other things on the end wall. My 2 1972 Blazers are pretty short 15 feet. I have a convertible Toyota Solara and it is only 16'. These will be the three cars stored in my 2 car 30' wide garage. I have a 2012 Silverado that is just under 20 feet. The bay with the lift will have nothing in the front or back.

I also have the DX9000XLT, it is plenty wide for my 12 Yukon XL Denali which is AWD. Our 95 2 door 4x4 Yukon fits just fine and I can park any of those between the posts when it's in the air as well. I do fold the mirrors on my 12 Yukon in when parked, AFTER i back on or under just because I want them out of the way.

My understanding talking to my sales rep is yes, they bought backyard buddy. Those are more expensive because they are all American made. The Advantage lifts are cheaper, because they are China made. He wouldn't say anything bad about either, obviously, but I did get the feeling he thought the specs on the Advantage were better. I know I LOVE mine so far!

Check the outside runway widths. The mirrors may fit, but the vehicle axle tire width may be the limiting factor.
on the advantage DX-9000-XLT, which is mentioned above, a full size truck fits on the standard track width. You can widen if needed, they have a 2nd set of holes for one side which widens the runway.

Dually outside tires don’t fit the DX9000XLT . The bottom of the ramp crossmember hits the outside tire. A single rear wheel truck is fine. The posts aren’t the narrowest part.

The SS11000 is fine for a dually.

Fit and finish is great on the imported Advantage lifts.

I'm not sure which part you are referring to. Now I'm going to have to go look at mine. I don't own a dually and no plans for one, but I could swear he had one and said they'd fit, you just move the ramp, opposite the motor, to the outside notches. I know he at least said it was for wider wheelbase trucks such as his. To me that would be a dually.... what else is wider than a standard full size such as the yukon without going to dually.

Again, not going to argue it as I don't have dually to compare. Are you referring to the bracket that wraps the posts?

i had a detailed discussion with them prior to ordering my two lifts. Their current ad talks about the SS11000 for crew cab dually applications.

the narrowest part of the lift is the pulley covers on the cross beam.

I never tried putting my dually on the smaller XLT lift, though.

The length I'm sure would be issue with full size bed and crew cab. My yukon xl is 18' long. It fits perfect length wise. I'll have to measure the width between the covers, but yes that is narrowest part.
