I bought my first ICON wrench set

I'll admit that I'm a tool snob (and tool polisher). Historically, I've only bought high quality tools or tools made in the USA, not because I need them, but because I want them. However, recently in anticipation of an increasingly poor economy, I've been more budget conscious. So I decided to buy an ICON offset wrench set, on a whim, because I was curious about the brand and because I needed a set.

Long story short, I wanted to be disappointed in them, but I wasn't. The weight of the tool is excellent, chrome is perfect, and the fit is spot on. I don't have anything negative to say, in fact now I want more ICON tools. And I can make a 5 minute drive and buy them whenever I want.

This feels dirty. What do I do?!

They work well only complain I've heard is they can be a bit soft and deform on really hard stuff, think higher than grade 8 and rusted in place.

I've said before that you have to judge each Icon tool on its own merits. It depends on who's is making the wrenches for Harbor Freight. Some wrenches appear to be Kabo sourced while others, may be Infar sourced. Both companies produce excellent quality tools.
What should you do? First off if you're worried about the economy, don't buy any tool that you don't have an immediate need for and that you'll use to make money with. Don't buy something new just have a different flavor of stuff you already have or to polish. Also keep in mind that Icon doesn't sell open stock tools. It's sets only.

Go back to HF and buy a sledgehammer

Then get down on one knee, say three Hail Marys then hit your big toe as hard as possible with that sledge.....

Don’t worry, it won’t do any damage

Deep offset double box? That was my first Icon purchase because I "needed" a deep offset 15.mm and 17mm for a specific job and wanted to pick them up from somewhere that day instead of waiting for delivery. Like you, I'm very happy with them (although I'm far from a tool snob).

What do you do?? You sleep soundly knowing that you supported a local brick-and-mortar store (albeit one that makes the owner a TON of ****** money) and you've got a set of tools in your box that will probably last your lifetime if you're not using them daily in a professional environment.

The tool offerings today are vastly better than the off brand **** from the 70s and 80s. You are choosing from the best of a pretty good bunch, vs the best of a bad lot.

Make a pit in your basement, polish them in there. While listening to Goodbye Horses Maybe pick another hobby like collecting moths or something. 🤣
I have a few Icon tools like the long ratcheting wrenches they have been fine working on light rail. Back when I worked in commercial aviation, I would not have a problem using them. If they work they work.
