I finally got my garage built. I'm going to try and post some pics. It is 32' by 40' by 12' 6". I live in a development with an HOA and it has to look like the house so vinyl siding and shingles. Here are some pics...

Ok so I see I don't have enough posts yet to upload images so I will try again later.

Well it looks like it did let me upload an image of clearing some small trees. I will try some more. The garage went up real fast, It was all framed and sided in 2 weeks. Then after a week the concrete went in and that took 2 weeks. Then it sat without garage doors for a month. After a few calls the doors were installed and I never saw the contractor again. I ended up calling him and made a deal to just pay for what was done and I will finish it myself. I'm happy with the work done so far but once the guy goes to his next job you never hear from him. Anyway here are some pics of the start of the build.

And some more showing the concrete. I marked the area where my lift posts are going and they made those spots 8" thick when they poured. They used 4000 psi concrete.

Great looking build!
One question: why a pole building vs. stick build on a pad?
(genuinely curious)

I got quotes for both stick and post because I am planning on heating it but not going to build walls inside for the insulation. I'm planning to use 1 1/2" of rigid foam panels attached to the sheeting between the girts and then run horizontal framing between the posts and put in batts. I only plan on heating it to about 45 F then turn it up when I want to work. I have natural gas so looking at radiant tube heaters. The price for the foundation added a lot of cost and I'm trying to stay within a budget.

General lo-temp heating is good for the tools and electric bill.

A trick we use up here in northern Wisconsin, where it gets cold as hell (-30f) , is to put a 500w work light above the benchtop where your working.
It warms you, and your benchtop area temporarily, instead of cranking the heat 2-3 hours before working.
