F80 for 35.75 shipped to my toolbox

and merkava and i were having a discussion about a 1/2" proto and instead of buying my friends for $30, i got one for $25 shipped:thumbup:

ebay has a choakhold on my life.

i have literally bought a car on ebay(93 camaro) and did the entire restoration front to back, inside and out completly on ebay. im just so impressed at the deals you can find if you really look and take the time to do some research.

eBay is not what it once was but I do still enjoy searching and buying from there and I also like to use the best offer button for what I consider killer deals. Also great score on the F80 thats about half of the list price.

Yeah, I feel your pain. I've gotten a lot of my tools from E-Bay. In fact, I just ordered a 6-piece Hansen socket tray set last night. Great deal on the 80, by the way!

I haven't really ever gotten into buying on Ebay because I can usually find better deals at Pawn shops or on Craigslist.

I still love ebay
over the years I have done very well on ebay, both buying and selling

I have been able to buy some very hard to find stuff that I otherwise may have never found. I have gotten deals on abay that were just short of totals steals.

I also live in an area where I seem to be surrounded by a bunch of cheap shits, so I have been able to sell some stuff for much more money than I could have ever gotten around here

ok, there are things that are a pain in the ****, however I still think the benifits outweigh the BS. in all the years I have been doing ebay I can only remember 2 people that tried to screw me. they tried but old pissed me off in the course of things

If it wasn't for student discounts and Ebay, I wouldn't have half of the tools I do. The secret is not to get caught up in a bidding frenzy and to know when to say when, and not to be blinded by a brand name.

Yes, it can be quite addictive. I've been using it since the late 90s and agree that there seems to be less on there than in it's heyday in the early-mid 2000s.

I still use eBay though, and don't get the people that use craigslist. With eBay you get multiple layers of protection, both for your money and yourself. Basically doing business with the computer and the seller just ships you the item.

Craigslist is too sketchy for me - just something creepy about calling random people and going to their house to see/buy items. Maybe that model worked in the 1950s, but there are too many serial killers/****** predators/general whackos out there that I want to keep my business as impersonal as possible.

Yup... Craigslist has some cool stuff but I always feel weird about meeting people. I've sold some stuff but generally no one ever comes to my house. I actually have had a few people email me and want to see "what else I had" and I just politely declined. If I can't meet you in a fairly public parking lot and do the exchange no thanks. I also have honestly never met anyone without a firearm on my person. A lil paranoid maybe.. but a couple of idiots got robbed here because they went in search of a "deal" on a iphone in a not so smart part of town.

On a side note though.. the few times I've had people come to my house it was to pick up toolboxes, etc. One guy ended up being pretty cool and into alot of similar stuff.. We've kept in touch a little bit just for the pure fact that we're often looking for similar stuff, know people who might have stuff, etc. Sigh.. it goes both ways for sure.

Boy, do I feel better now. I thought I was the only one not comfortable with strangers stopping by my house. I've done yard sales but everything is always out in my yard and I have company with me. I pretty sure we're just being paranoid, but you just never know. I've actually never bought or sold anything on Craigslist but I imagine I'll be armed if I do.

I suppose I would give CL a try if i could carry my handgun, but my state of residence (MD) is probably the strictest in the union and all you'll basically allowed to do with your handgun is keep it in your house.

I use Craigslist all the time. Buy and sell for as long as it has been viable.

I have never once come across anyone that I was threatened by. I have delivered computers to people's homes and set them up, met in parking lots and have had people come to my home to buy things.

No problems. All the flakes on CL do make things annoying. They chat you up then disappear, or say. "How bout I come over, screw your wife, you give me 10 bucks and I take that off your hands. Deal?"

I don't think that there are more crazies out there now then before. It's just that news and information are more available and it comes at a lightning pace. No secrets out there anymore.

So, I refuse to keep to myself and limit my contact with fellow human beings. There are too many good people out there. Just like on this board.

One of my best friends is someone I met from buying computer parts off the newsgroups. Been 12 years now.

I wouldn't trade that kind of experience for anything.

Oh most certainly... no reason to limit interaction with other folks. Just be smart about it. I mean you can usually pick up a shady looking situation from a mile away... at least most folks can. Its common sense. Its like anything.. if someone really really wants something they are gonna get it no matter what. I try not to be paranoid I just play it safe. I've met some CL people in parking lots who've wanted to talk for awhile. Others were happy to just hand me my cash and drive off.

I actually had an old paint brush cabinet (like they sold artists brushes in at art stores) that I listed on awhile back. The first guy to email me asked about having me bring it out because it wouldn't fit in his car. I asked the address, etc... decent part of town.. nothing shady so I was happy to do it. Ended up being a super nice guy who just happened to be a retired graphic artist and woodworker.

Well, I'm a bit of a hermit, and that's just the way I am. I'm sure that 99.9% of the people you encounter on CL mean no harm, but I'm still uneasy about random people coming over. Who knows, maybe I was traumatized as a child or something.
