Take a look at this Dewalt DCD995B drill for $42. For $42, I took a chance on it. Will you? If I get beat, eBay will refund my money. If I get a $100+ drill, good for me. Anyone else have the balls to do it? :lol_hitti

Sorry, I'm not going for it either. The seller has only 4 feedbacks and this drill is coming from china, is it even real?

It does make me a little curious. I'm guessing it will be a ChiWalt copy, like the fake Stihl chainsaws.

Notice in the description it says unbranded.

I've gotten jammed twice. They list about five or more items that they sell & then they "disappear".
It's doubtful they ever had the items to sell ... perhaps just pictures they grabbed from other sellers.
Ebay has made it right both times for me.

Send him a specific question about the drill and see what kind of gobbledegook you get back or if you get a response?

As it stands, no way would I hit the "buy it now button". Member since 2004? Jeff Barton from Hong Kong? Hinkey says I.

It may show up and be half decent but I would guess it will not be an actual Dewalt. Interested to see what shows up.

Sorry I forgot the link, but Bob found it in post #3. Believe me guys, I looked at everything you guys did and realize there's a good chance it's a fake auction, but if not, I'll make out like a bandit. I mean $42 isn't exactly a huge risk and because everything is done through PayPal, it's safe and secure & I will get my money back if it is indeed a fake. I just sent the seller a message asking him to confirm it is brand new, never used and an original Dewalt drill. We'll see what kind of response I get, if any.

There's almost zero risk with Ebay but it's hardly too good to be true. Bare tools w/o batteries and charger usually go pretty cheap.

Go for it. A Chicom knockoff DeWalt is probabaly better than a real one...

Tommy

From Wikipedia -

In 2002, DeWalt ceased all tool manufacturing in the USA and moved manufacturing to China, Mexico, Thailand, Japan and Korea.

On Veterans Day of 2013, DeWalt issued a press release stating it would be bringing some assembly of a small selection of their products to US using globally manufactured parts from Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, Italy, Mexico, the UK, and the US. The products assembled in the US would be branded under the label, "Built in the USA with global materials."

So the for all we know, the real ones and "knockoffs" could be made in the same exact place. The eBay description said

country/region manufacture: Mexico
Ship from: Taiwan, Hong Kong, China

So who knows. I'm looking forward to the outcome of this lol

Yeah, I knew they were already Chinese, what I was driving at is they aren't very good no matter where they're made. At least not from my experience.

Your Dear Old Neighbor Lady called and asked My thoughts.
After a brief chat, We agreed on two things:
1 We both enjoy green tea.
2 We both questioned that eBay seller from Hong Kong as being any type of legitimate dealer or retailer that We would approve. But, We agree there is one way to find out.

She plans on brewing a pot of tea this afternoon and stopping over for a visit, and is eager to hear all the details on that drill.

I like My DCD995, and She is eager to see Your drill when it arrives.

For cordless drills? Yes. They pretty much own all the Lithium Ion battery technology anyway. I try not to be specifically brand focused in terms of "everthing must come from the same company or it's junk". I tend to buy brands that are well received for whichever type of tool I'm looking for, but obviuosly bad past experience does weigh in.

I know a lot of guys use DeWalt tools. For guys who use them daily and the batteries get cycled a lot, they seem to work well. For an intermittent user like me, the batteries die in storage too quickly (ultra cheap cells). I also had problems with the triggers and drivetrain. They seemed to wear out about an hour after the warranty expired and parts availability was horrendous.

Sure is an Interesting eBay ad. jeffbarton2020 has been an eBay member since April 18, 2004, and is listed as based in the USA.. Whether He is drop shipping or has moved there?? He has an Extremely low post count for a twelve year span, so this doesn't appear to be a frequent sales method for Him.. He currently has no active ads on eBay.

Just have to wait for Hopefully good news from gdocktor3

Yea or he became a ******** drug user and this is a last resort for some quick cash lol

I bet if I kept quiet about it everything would work out fine, but now that I created this thread I'll probably get screwed and it'll turn into a "told ya so" situation... We'll see.

I group questions and doubts with suspicions; and facts with condemning.

All thou I have questions related to the purchase, I lack any facts to indicate that You will not receive Your drill..

If The drill noes not arrive, Ebay should have You covered.
