So, my G73 arrived. Electrician friend told me to rough in 10-2 wire, buy the 30 amp 2-pole breaker, and then he'd come over and teach me about installing a new breaker (he's taught me a ton about wiring already, but we had yet to cover this topic).

So, I dutifully go out to the barn and grab a length of my 12-2 wire I had on hand, get it all stapled in and run from the heater to the panel. Pat myself on the back and call it a night.

Flash forward a couple days... One morning I wake up, and without anything prompting me at all, the first thought in my head is "You idiot, he said 10-2 wire, what the hell are you doing using 12-2 wire instead?"

I guess sometimes your clearest thinking occurs when you're asleep.

Never accuse me of not sharing my goofs :)

Although I never remember dreams and am usually a heavy sleeper, I frequently wake up thinking of things like that, or will think about them out of the blue while in the shower. I guess waking up really is like rebooting your brain.

I often wake up and have an idea or solution to a problem that stopped me out during the day. I keep a pencil and pad by the bed because if I don't write it down I forget it when I go back to sleep.

Some cellphones have a voice record capability for taking notes, if your state allows talking on one while driving.

my personal cell dont have anything but phone and 2way on it. wife and kids phones have all that stuff including text and GPS.
my work cell does, but by the time i'd figure it out, it'd be too late:fawk:

around this area, in the city, cell phone usage, and texting while driving are against the rules

Leave it in and put it on a 20 amp breaker: throw the 10-2 up with it if you need to, but if you've already got a circuit installed, don't back up: you'll find a use for it soon...

Dry erase markers work great too. When I was an OTR driver I would write directions and addresses on my windshield and use the windshield and drivers window as my personal notepad while driving. At the end of the day I would write it down on paper and just wipe the windows clean with a rag.

That happens to me alot. Usually work related stuff where I'll be just about to fall asleep, when I remember I forgot to do something. A few times it was important enough that I got out of bed and wrote it down so I didn't forget again.

I'm also in the process of rebuilding my YZ125 motor. I had it halfway back together and I was waiting on parts. I was about to fall asleep one night when I remembered I forgot to put a bearing retainer in. I hadn't worked on the motor or even been in the garage for a few days before that. It just popped in my head that I forgot it. That would have been bad news if I put everthing together and forgot that part.

The brain works in strange ways

Ok, it's 8:09 p.m. and upper 30's F outside right now about. Electric finally connected on the new heater. I set it on the 4th dot (out of 10) for its maiden voyage and will go out and see what we have in a little bit after I get the kids to sleep. More soon :)

I went back out at 8:45 p.m. last night and it was 60 degrees in my workshop. Got it up to 64 without having to turn it up. Once the place is insulated it will just be that much better.

So happy to have a warm place to work!!!!
