Heh, that's funny. Their tools are "Fiercely Made in Meadville PA" but the hat that says so is made in China. lolol

Reminds me of a coworker's 'Make America Great Again' hat.

A market seller here in Mexico has new unused US military uniforms for all branches.

Most are made in America's biggest trading partners nation. When I served they were all US made.
Its rampant across a lot of product lines by now.

Are there hats made in America and should they have used them? Yes and yes.

However they are a tool company not a clothing company. Disappointing but give em a break.

The US companies were fighting prison work programs a couple years ago, by prisons undercutting prices they were pushing the other hat companies towards out of business.

What a major marketing blunder. You would think the marketing geniuses would find a company in the US to make that hat and have the right tag on it:lol:

Yup! Some genius decided to save a few bucks...and turned their company's prized US manufacturing claim into a joke.

Pretty sure every major US brand has been drilled on here for this. They are TOOL companies.

Now it’s gonna be 3 pages of channellock going out of business. And probably some union bashing. Why? Cuz it’s gj.

Hopefully not...it's not a manufacturing or labor issue at all. Product on the shelves is every bit as good as it was before that "hat" showed up.

However, giving a little flack to marketing, the very people responsible for managing *perception* and brand identity? That seems like fair game to me!

It's a shame. The hats easily could have been made in the USA. New Era Cap Company ("the first headwear company to have exclusive rights for MLB, the NFL, and the NBA simultaneously," per Wikipedia) still manufactures a bunch of its baseball caps in Derby, NY, about 100 miles up Interstate 90 from Meadville, PA.

Good on them, keeping costs for pointless stuff down to keep the cost of their tools reasonable.

I think what you said about "perception" is the key issue in this. In many cases, perception is more important than anything else.

Yea...but they put their name on china screwdrivers and wrenches too..Maybe those are "pointless"....since it's not what they really do..but it bothers me more than the hat. And for the record..im a loyal Channellock customer...they have been my pliers of choice my whole career..No matter what tool trucks came and went..never bought pliers from any of them..

That's a huge marketing fail. You're gonna order thousands or millions of hats with the "fiercely made in the USA" slogan on it and you don't bother to order a USA made hat?

Wow. That's insane. I guess they were too cheap to pay the extra 30 cents per hat for the one not made in a 3rd (I mean 2nd) world sweat shop.

That's a slippery slope of an argument for most countries chaps. Past, and fairly recent, (possibly even current, to a degree), history put most of us in the same camp.

The first thing I thought when I saw "fiercely made" was maybe they have a meth problem amongst the employees.

Sometimes the level of pettiness is mind boggling.

Here's a company that probably puts itself at a global competitive price disadvantage by making products in the US, but regardless they are being **** on because they sell a Hat that is imported.

I can't wait for when the bashing of the "re-shored" American made craftsman tools commences.
