This dirty little orphan test piece, could not get a dollar bid at estate auction.

I didn't even know what it was since it was covered with dust, but I like old test equipment, so WTF I went for it.

Fired it up, it's a Fairchild 7050 DVM with a NIXIE TUBE display! I was actually a bit giddy not have seen a tube display in 30 years.

It's a keeper.

I love Nixies. I remember when I was about 12 I accompanied my Dad on a trip to the town dump to get rid of some trash, and sitting in the trash pile was an HP frequency generator from the 1960s with a Burroughs Nixie display. I rescued them (plus a tuning eye) and sat on them for YEARS until I built the following Arduino-powered clock using the tubes. There are about 350 hand-soldered connections in this thing, so I'm definitely not making another.

When I was in college we were still using test equipment with nixie tube displays. I've always liked them.

I've watched some videos recently about 'lixie' displays, they are LED based but look like nixie displays.

I think it's a keeper too... unless you really want to get rid of it. More than happy to help in that regard. Fairchild made some AWESOME (and bulletproof) gear back in the day. (Is the ohmmeter still accurate?)

Nice! Might also be a practical piece of kit, if you clean it up, replace the caps and calibrate it/adjust the trim pots.

I like it! Haven't seen nixies in years.
