I view them more as a mechanic's fidget spinner. The Matco one with the small knife is the one I want to get and seems the most useful.

Semi novelty item IMO. I have a Matco one but I have never used it yet. I carry a skin wedge type tool in my back pocket which I use for clips & panels. I use it daily & often at work.

I also have the mini version but don't keep it in my pocket. Before this one I carried the common single sided version without the flat/non-curved end.

I keep planning on buying something similar, especially when I need it, and then I don't, and then I forget about it, and then I need it, and I think about getting it...

Why not? I see Techs with a whole pouch or a leg cargo pocket just dedicated to their EDC ****. What's one more pocket tool if it saves you time or steps? :dunno:

I do think the automatic type sold by snap on and others may be more of a fidget time killer to some though.

The problem I have with the folding trim tools I've seen is the opening between the forks is too narrow but, that's just me.

Like who just carries a trim clip popper on them?

If you do a lot of Automotive Diagnostics (especially on Euro Vehicles) you keep a pry tool and a flashlight in your pocket.

I always have a 4140 skin wedge and an O-Light on me to make it easy to get at OBD/EOBD ports.

I must admit having a pocket clip and retractable blade is something I might consider in the future (but I'm not paying £100, I will wait until the hype dies down and they hit ebay) 😂

For portability, I keep a hex shank trim tool (among other blades) in my field kit and use it with an interchangeable handle. Works great for me and its like having a real tool.

It that trim tool something you made or does Vessel offer that as an accessory for their ball grip drivers? Now there's an idea for a new product, ball grip handle with a variety of blades from trim fastener remover, hose pick, scraper, etc. That's a winner-winner-chicken dinner

Apologies to @Shoreline_ for the thread derail! My bad!

I picked it up several years ago (imported from Japan) but as far as I know its still made. It's included in an automotive repair tool kit Sunflag makes.
The set is made in Japan, and includes a trim clip remover, scraper, coin driver, valve core tool, JIS crosspoint and keystone slotted drivers. The keystone was one of the main reasons I bought the set, which is much less common. The bits have all performed well in use and the finish has held up to expectations.
They come with a bit holder that has a small integrated belt clip. Its quite compact so I keep them in it. Also included is a ball style bit handle which has a curved slot molded in the end for wingnuts, eyehooks, draincocks. I tested it out when I first got it and found it to be a little light duty for my needs so I opted to stow the Vessel tang-thru 230W and the mini 270BW handles instead.

America's hat.
Some people like OTF knives. Some like folders. Some like fixed blades.

I view this clip tool in the same mind set.. who cares?
