I finally found my shop.

My wife showed my this property over two years ago and it only took a few items to convince me.
The shop is 40' deep by 60' wide with 13' ceilings. It has a full bath, kitchen with a washer and dryer, a 12' x 18' room being used as a workout room.
The shop area has two 10' tall x 12' wide overhead doors that have a center piece that can be lifted up to make a 25' wide opening.
The shop and the house have there own 200 amp breaker panels.


The pictures of the plane were taken when we were looking at the property.

First off the plane is not mine. I wish. It was the previous owners.
Both doors must be open in order to remove/lift the center piece.
It used to have a piano hinge on top so that it could be lifted out of the way. It has since then been cut prior to my owning it and now we just remove it out of the way if needed.
There is an alluminum plate that is bolted to the floorthat has a hole for the pin to lock into place. The tracks for the overhead door come out with the center piece as well.
It would be ugly if someone was to close the doors with it removed. Maybe I need to get a safety switch installed so this can not happen.
As far as getting the plane in and out, since it is just a cub, he would lift it by the tail and go at an angle to get the through the doors. The wing span is longer than the door openings. It did take a little bit of work but one person could do it.

Agree, need more pictures of the removable center jamb. That's trick. I wounder what size/type header they used to 35' without deflection.

Great question. I was thinking the same thing. Just like the guy who builds a boat in his basement and can't get it out.

The answer was a great idea. Never seen anything like that.

These are the only shots I have of the door and the center piece.
The pictures do not show it but the piano hinge (as wide as the center piece) is just at the end of the bend in the door tracks.
The bottom piece is out of alluminum with a sping loaded handle that you retracts the pin that goes into the plate and the floor.
When I get back home I can take some better pictures of the set up.

Nice Find, I bet that even if it was next to a sewage plant it would be ok with you...would be with me...

It must have a removable post in the center. Clopay calls it a "Carry-a-way Post" and others call it a removable mullion. I ran accross it the other day, and now I can't find the site with the picture. Basically it joins two doors and allows fof the center post to be removed when both doors are up.
