WOW! nice job on the stand Charles!! Oh yeah, is that an Eaton I see?

Jim

No, its a Home Depot Husky (bought in June 2003), made by Campbell Hausfeld. The've redesigned them now, the new ones DO NOT say Made in USA on the pump any longer (mine does say Made in USA), and they now have plastic tubing to the pressure switch for the head unloader (mine is copper). Now I would either buy an Eaton (also a Chinese pump) or if I had money to spend, a Emglo by Jenny, Quincy or Champion, 7.5 hp unit (mine is 7.5 hp 24 CFM also) I would also consider the 120 gallon tank that Eaton and Emglo offer in this hp. Both Eaton and Emglo are using a 10 hp rated pump with 7.5 hp turning slow, at just over 600 RPM, should be quite.

Yeah I have a 7.5 hp pump with a5hp motor on my eaton. Yeah, Its a chinese pump (which I found out afterwards) but its still an awesome compressor for the $. Something liek half the price of a quincy equivalent... Had I been using the thing every day It would probably be something made here and costing 2x as much. I do know the tank and motor are made here though

It's hard to say because it's relative. But to give you some idea.
My garage is atached to the house. If the compressor turns on and I have the door closed you can definetly hear it wherever you are in the house. But you just hear the low frequencies. You can carry on a conversation or listen to the tv without turning up the volume. But you definetly know it's there.

It's less noisy than a table saw, chop saw, router, circular saw or any 2hp compressor. But it's more noisy than a Jenny or Emglo sled style compressor. It's also more noisy than any small amp power tool like a jigsaw or a sander. If you have a stereo in your garage playing at normal volume, you would defiently need to turn it up.

The best comparison would be againts a compressor of same size but I have not hear one in a small space like a garage recently to compare.

I have pretty good hearing (get tested once a year) and I don't mind the noise when it cycles, but it would definetly bother me if run continously.
