I wouldn't say I have bad luck but I'm not a lucky person. I'm always just a bit too late for a good deal, never win anything. My dad on the other hand, can win anything he signs up for, always get a smoking deal on whatever he buys. Hopefully his luck win finally rub off on me.

Our Snap On guy always has the usual deals and the buy this and get entered to win that type of thing. A couple weeks ago he had buy a tool out of the box, get 20% off that tool, get a shirt and get entered to win a box. He had a 1/4 std shallow socket set, which I had been thinking of buying anyway, so I bit.

Monday at work, I was talking to my dad and he said he had a message from our snap on guy to call him, which I thought nothing of. I got back to my desk and had a voicemail. It was our snap on guy saying I won the drawing for the box. It's not huge box but still $1900 or so. The issue is I have zero use or space for it. I am hoping I can trade it in on something. He stops by Thursday so I will see what he will do. The picture is of the model of box.

I'd trade that towards a sweet cart or something if possible. Most of the time, my SO driver does raffles for stuff he wants to get rid of. So there isn't too much room for trading or swapping.

The reason I say I have no use for it is because I finally got my garage set up the way I want it and need all the floor space I can get. I have a tool cart sitting unused in my basement. My dad talked like he may buy it from me and use it at work and take is work box home.

Can I try?

Hahaha! I guess there's a first time for everything.

I never thought I'd read on Garage Journal about someone getting a free, brand-new Snap On box and not wanting it!

Congratulations! You ****!

If you really don't want it I don't think you should try to trade back in to the guy that gave it to you. I think that shows a lack of gratitude. Chances are he wanted it out of his inventory anyway, and won't give you a good trade-in deal. Just sell it on CL. It'll be easy enough to move. Then, you can spend some of that cash on your dealer to show your appreciation.

Better yet, keep in mind, you do what you have to do, how about doing one better for your dad ? If you have a great pop that has been there for you, helped you out through thick and thin, and taught you many things in life, why do you just give him the box ?

It's not very often that a son can give back to his father, but this might be one of those times.

I think this might be the best suggestion yet.

Well I talked to my Snap On guy about trading but he said he could only do $750 so I decided to pass. My dad was thinking about buying it but ended up buying a jet ski so he had to pass. I went and got it tonight and once I started measuring it, I realized it is 5 inches narrower than my current box but 2 inches deeper. My current box has a 2.5 inch brace in the center of the box so I am really only giving up a half inch. I think I am going to keep this box and either buy a snap on top box or put my current top box on it and sell my current bottom box.
