Well after years of working on the ground with jacks and jack stands I finally got a lift, Bendpak MD-6XP. The Mrs. helped me on a nice cool, 107deg., Arizona day get it unloaded and setup.

Used a engine hoist to get it off the trailer with some lifting straps and chains. Then used 4 1000lb HF movers and two 6ft slat bars to get in perfectly in place.

It's sitting on racedeck flooring, to protect the concrete and I had raceramps custom build a set of 4in high ramps and platforms so the race car will clear the lift. The great thing about the platforms is all 6 pieces weight in at less than 80lbs so I can move them out of the way easily or take them to the track. They also do not slide, at all!

Thanks to those who answered questions I had before my purchase.

That is a very nice set up, but why are they custom built? That looks like something they could sell to a lot of us guys just the way they are.

They do not offer an off the shelf ramp set at 4in and the length i got. So they had to be ordered through their custom order process. They told me they are considering offering them as "scissor lift ramps" as they have had request from other customers for them.

Thanks, she needs som tlc which the lift will help with. The issue is the header and oil pan, which side lower on my b16 motor that is in the car. So it was going to get hung up. I didnt need 4 inches but the fact that i can easily take these to and us at the track in the pits will be huge. Means adjusting shocks or sway bars wont require a jack.

Nice setup! Nice Si, too! I had a black one in '86. First new car I ever owned. I'd love something like that lift, but I want something that allows free access to the driveline, too. II think the P6FB would do the trick, but I could use the $2k on the project car first...

Thanks, compared to some on here its very basic! Its a 3 car across with a tandem bay on the side with the two car bay, so basically a 4 car garage per builder. I used the tandem bay as my work are with my benches, tool box compressor, etc and my bike parks in the middle. It was one of the things my wife used to sell me on getting a new house, shes a smart lady!

Good luck on yours.

Update, got to finally lift one of the vehicles.

Race ramps work perfectly as you can see fully lowered the arms clear the ramps.

At full lift the car clears door but when you go past lock door has to be closed by 8 inches to clear roof.

I am able to use the lifted pads to get extra clearance between the lift and the car to work further back.

It looks great and seems to be exactly what you need.

I'd send Race Ramps some of these pictures letting them know how satisfied you are and how well they work. It might speed up the process for them to make them a standardly available part number.

Actually they have my pictures. I sent them some of the previous ones because they might use them. Seems they see that demand is increasing for these.

Well, $1500 to $2000 is not the end of the world but I am not sure affordable is the correct adjective.

Looks bad *** though.

How is stability? Does the car rock back and forth or sideways at all if you go at motor mount bolts / CV joint bolts, etc, with a breaker bar?

I am amazed at how stable it is. This is a very light car, 1987 scaled lbs. and it does not move. Now i followed bendpaks directions on finding the balance point and then aligning that over the specified point.

Two motor swaps have been done on this car using scissor lifts. I do not see what i can not do on this car with this lift. I am actually going to do the rack n pinion and do not see where the lift will get in the way. Again this is a small car so larger vehicles will have more room to work. Very pleased so far.

Thanks.
How long does it take to go from full down to the height in your pics?
How many amps does the motor for the hydraulic pump draw?

I have one and I like it, your ramps are fancier, though.

Here is the one I have:
http://www.costco.ca/Dannmar-Cadet-...sor-Specialty-Car-Lift.product.100123828.html
I didn't pay that much for mine, though.

It is IDENTICAL to the Bendpak MD6-XP except for paint colour.

This is worth mentioning, because depending on where you shop, the Danmar might be cheaper.

I have had three different vehicles on there now, and this is what I found I COULD do on this lift:

Oil changes
All front-end components (tie-rod ends, ball joints, rack & pinion, struts, etc.)
Front & rear CV drive axles.
Front & rear brakes & wheel bearings.
Complete rear suspension and/or rear diff.
Trans. filter on my F-150, lift platform is under trans, but there is clearance for access.
Muffler & tail pipe on F-150, VW Beetle.
R&R fuel tank on F-150.
Fuel filters on most vehicles.
Radiator on VW Beetle.
And tire rotations, of course....:D

And things I likely COULDN'T do because of clearance/access issues:
Whole exhaust systems
R&R transfer cases
R&R transmissions on rear-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive vehicles.
R&R fuel tank on 2000 Beetle.

I should also note that under dash work is a LOT easier if you can get a car a couple of feet off the ground.

Suitable ramps are also available @ your local lumber yard.... :D

Nice setup.

Regarding your Honda, my friend and I recently swapped his '93 Integra's B181a out for a newer B20 from a CR-V. It was so much easier using my lift. Here's the new powerplant:

Just an update on an old thread. It has been almost two years now with my lift and I have had all of my vehicles on it. Just did the brakes on the S4 yesterday, ended up needing the race ramps because even stock the car is to low. Anyway lift is still saving me money and my back. A couple of pics of the rest of the fleet in the air.

I have found the first lock is a great height with my super comfy shop stool. I really like the rolling stool, does not get stuck or fall over. Also its adjustable but works out very nicely. When the cars at full height I can roll under it and be seated. This pic shows the stool by the car and what I installed.

What kind of race deck tiles did you use and how have they held up?

Circletrac graphite. They are holding up very well. Because my entire floor is not race deck, i just have a racedeck pad, i have plates under the rear wheels. I had an issue where near max lift it was right at a corner seam and buckled the racedeck. The plates addressed this and have not moved.

The other function of my racedeck pad is it makes it easy to center my ramps. I cut them at the width that allows me to just push them against the race deck and the width is perfect.

I have had this one since 1993. It has morphed over the years but i just cant seem to part with it. Every time i drive it its like putting on that old pair of boots that just fit like no others.
