Hi everyone, last week I got a 60/70's Brobo Rotor cold saw from gumtree(australia kind of CL),price I think was right ,the bloke was asking a$u200 but after a bit of deal got it by 150(plus a mole selflocking pliers,a paulcall 4" clamp and a little Sidchrome shifter).
Now it looks rough and it is ,so the idea is to pull it apart and change the three phase motor for a single one ,even when it will lose being two speeds, lucky the motor connects to the rack an pinion via belts.
So wish me luck, don't know how it's going to finish...the second pic is to show how a fully rebuit one looks (do not think I will get that good but to make it fully usable)

Very nice looking saw, what size blade is that? The table and vise look like quality pieces.

I think the blade is about 10" ,but not sure the one restored has a 12",and yes the brand is Brobo and they still make cold saws I guess this is one of the first models.
Today is nearly all aparthad to pull it apart first to take it out of my car(being not that big weights a lot),rack and pinion look good, the pulley looks like been run without the wedge.
Any advise about how to strip it painted and ideas are more than welcome, using a wire wheel?
How could I remove the locking nut in the pic?I soaked it in WD40 but don't want to damage it more than what it is ...

It looks like someone has tried to knock it around with a punch?
I would sacrifice the nut as it looks pretty beat up anyway. Maybe drill a hole on opposite sides, place a couple of pins in there and get a bar across the pins.

C spanner. If you have a spanner for a grinder nut/flange which fits, (those pokey pressed things with two pins), that might work too. Last resort, a chisel or piece of metal rod/bar and smack it with the hammer. Just check whether it's a left or right hand thread before you start loosening it. :D
