:Violent:Call about a Miller Matic 130 mig and an Century Arc for $65 total!!! Guy calls me back says I am first in line for it. It was not a scam so don't even go there. Sadly, can't do the 100 mile drive today because of other plans and he as expected wouldn't hold or do paypal....

Just thought I would share my frustration here with others who also hate having great deals snatched from their fingertips...LOL

I do get my share...but I still hate it none the less as chasing good deals is one of my favorite hobbies. Had to let the huge blue $2,000 KRL in Knoxville go last week as I just didn't have the 2k. I hope another member got it and thats why I posted it.

I just passed on a Thermal Dynamics 300amp Tig/Stick/MIG setup, with cart, bottles, and 50ft of stinger. I think he even had the watercooler... $600

I know how you feel...I spent 10 years in northern AZ. Although I miss the forest, snow & general outdoors...Im glad to be back in civilization!

I am having the same problem, been locking to upgrade to a larger box but all the good deals are six hours away in Phoenix or Tucson. Nothing listed here in El Paso.

I only check CL once a day at night, so all the local deals are long gone anyway. No different than being miles away, I guess. I tend to get my deals by being willing to drive an hour away to pick them up. Sure, I spend an extra 10 bucks for gas, but the deals are usually 40-50 bucks cheaper, so it works out.

If you knew a GJ member in the vicinity, you could always check to see if he'd pick it up for you. For a small fee, of course! :spit:

Seriously though, you wouldn't miss out on the deal.

I can't speak from a being in the boonies situation, but I have learned that no matter what deal comes along, another will come by sooner or later. That said, you also have to factor in the benefit factor of living in the boonies which to someone like me who lives on the edge of the rat race and dives in most days, is worth a ton. The rat race has been good for making a living, but I can't wait for retrerment to a warmer location with no traffic. I used to enjoy it, but no longer.

Crappy neighbors 10 feet to each side complaining that you're working in the garage at 8pm on a saturday night, and listening to traffic, sirens, and some idiot blaring the bass from the back of his car in the driveway(its mostly just the license plate and trunk rattle you hear anyways...) is all enough for me to appriciate living away from town. I work in town...thats enough time spent there for me...despite any missed deals on craigslist ;)

Yeah, we left the rat race 5 years ago. Cashed out and only miss it sometimes, but having almost no bills means I have only worked on average 15 hours a week. Since and I am only 35 so I can't complain. A little more money would be nice but we have enough to live pertty well and I would never go back to that life again.

I remember sitting on my front porch with a friend who is a village dweller. Our kids were playing in the front yard, some hundred feet or so from the road. My nearest neighbor is a couple hundred feet to the rear and side, the next neighbor I can see if I peek through the trees just right. He asked me if I felt isolated out here.

I replied "From what? The neighbor's barking dog? Their television blaring away? The loud muffler on their car? I can't think of anything I really miss about having neighbors living in spitting distance." He just shook his head and allowed as how I might have a point...

Civilization my ****. I lived in several different "civilized" cities. I will never live in civilization again. Our nearest neighbor is a half mile away and are some of the nicest people you could ever meet. We dont have to deal with all the noise that is invovled with the city life. Hell at night it is dark. Ever hear the crickets chirp in the city? I never did over all the noise polution. Sure I miss deals but none of them are worth the solitude of being able to enjoy the sounds, smells, the nature in the country.
