IMHO, every one of us, before we learned to do better, as done things that we are not proud of. That includes my self.

Let the person who has never screwed something up, cast the first stone.

When I moved into a 140 yr old house, I was happy to see that they upgraded the electrical to 3-wire.

Unfortunately, in many places I saw 2-wire armored cable from the 1900s going into the wall in the basement, but grounded outlets on the other side.

When I investigated, I found this. Six inches of NM-B taped to the old cloth covered wires with friction tape, and stuffed behind the wall.
