First my buddy and I went to harbor freight to get an engine stand.. I decided not to buy it and went to tractor supply to buy solvent for my parts washer instead. Somehow this 60 gallon compressor ended up in the van by the time we left. I have a problem.

You need to get rid of it as soon as possible. Just ship it to me and you won't have any more problem with it. .....Honest!

Now that I have this I gotta get the rest of the stuff needed to make it useful. I plan on plumbing it in using copper. Going to feed 1 hose reel in the center of the attic, one sand blast cabinet (I know the compressor isn't ideal for it but I'll manage), 2 quick connects for attaching other hoses, and one more quick connect on my work bench.

Does anyone else have this model? I plan on building a compressor room and insulating it to make it comfortable to have a conversation with it running. Is it quiet enough that I won't really need that?

I'm also going to change the air filter as just about every review says it's worth it.

I saw a post somewhere on this forum from a guy that used some outdoor style outlet boxes that he modified to hold a quick connect. Looked real slick
Anyone remember this?

Compressor room is most likely a good idea, but build it for a larger compressor as future proofing. If it's like any of the other ones I've been around, it's not insanely loud but you need to raise your voice to talk around it. I have a rotary screw IR air compressor so it just sits right in the shop nicely. I'd recommend if you ever got real serious about a shop checking out a rotary screw. Their price point is high, but they are amazing, and they save you on energy.

Tha KS for the input guys.. This is an oiled compressor, I wouldn't consider buying an oiless. I'll Def build the room big enough to handle a larger compressor later. I'll just use the extra space in there for a little storage.. Maybe I'll build some kind of shelving.

I didnt plan on buying this so soon. But, I saw it, my buddy flipped a coin, I bought it. Now i just gotta get a little time off work to get it all set up. Can't wait.

I can see you have a problem. It's really in the way there and not connected to electricity.
Move it to the corner and connect power to it
Problem solved

It doesn't have to be a fully sealed room to knock the noise down, sitting behind a partition with some kind of batt helps. Some of this it temp and makeshift but that insulation blanket draped over wire mesh was super fast and really worked good. A piece of foam board against the steel would have helped a pinch as would a foam against the other end which is a big steel column but this was 80%.

I have the same problem. Tools follow me home all the time. Being a single guy really amplifies this as well. From what I see on this forum there is no cure it only gets worse.

I have been thru most of this. If I wasn't in biz I wouldn't have it all. Its one thing to get what you need but to be a compulsive collector isn't worth it. Buying a reasonable air comp is a good investment for a young guy, good to get some basics out of the way where you "can do" something because the utility is in place, you can always buy another took quick, often pay for it with first use but air is like electric install.

That comp is modest, easy on the electric and will do the work and only increased time will be a little blasting, minor wait on occasion, not worth more investment for the other 99% of the time. Get a couple 1/4 t's to hard screw the fixed whips in place with a standard 25 ft hose and make each hose do as many functions as possible.

My place is industrial but I really like as few air hoses and couplers as possible, in a common garage could likely be 2, 1 on a reel and a whip along the bench. Couplers leak and unlike electric I have a habit of unhooking air tools when finished.
Park that sucker and hook it up with a couple hoses right off the bat, ball valve off the tank so you can work on system air at will, hook to hose reel and you can recover a temp hose or 2 for extensions later but would use it asap.

LOL, me too! I had my carport converted to a garage a year ago but it's too small to house all my workbenches and tools. So, I have all the automotive tools in the garage and everything else, including the power tools in the basement workshop. Problem with that arrangement is that the tool I need always seems to be in the other work area, so now when I buy a new tool, I tend to buy two of them so that I have one for each work space.

If you don't mind me asking what did you pay ? Not in the market, just curious. I bought exactly the same compressor about this time last year at Tractor Supply on sale for $429 after shopping around at the other usual places. I like mine. No problems at all so far.

Lol.. Yeah.. I do need it, but when I handled the ones at hf my buddy and I decided we could make one for about the same price or less and have fun making it.

I had checked out the HF engine stands a while back to hold my Chevelle's big block I have to rebuild and I didn't think they would be able to support the weight. I bought mine from Summit Racing (or maybe Jegs but pretty sure it was summit) But they were comparable in price, seemed of better quality, free shipping AND they were black and not the fugly reddish orange. Just a thought in case you don't want to try and build one.

Hopefully I'll have it up and running in the next couple weeks. Gonna take a couple P.A. Days and get it going.

With tax it was just about 500. I think the sticker was 479.99. Not the best deal on it, but it's on par with the usual pricing. I feel Ok with it, I know I'm going to get a ton of use out of it. Like I mentioned , I'm a young single guy. Would rather buy it now and have it while nobody else is watching the bank account :p

Enclose it!
I work in a noisy environment and do not like to talk to people while an air compressor is hammering away!

Just hook it up quick and add some shop stickers (racing, beer, whatever) and then using your shop vac, blow a light coating of dust on it. Add a dirty handprint for good measure and then say nothing. When she sees it she'll think it's been there for a while and don't remember you buying it. Say nothing.
