I used to rent a barn with a friend to work on our cars. The barn was right next to a massive grain store and the rats were ****** huge, we had some real problems with them eating stuff they shouldn't in the barn so one day we plugged all of the holes we could find in the concrete slab, stuffed a hose up the tailpipe of his pickup, wedged it in with rags and stuffed the other end as far down the nearest rathole as we could and wedged with more rags. We left the engine running for a couple of hours and there was fumes coming up all over the place, the entire slab must have been hollow underneath. It did knock the numbers down for a while though, not as much as when the rat man came round with his traps, rifle and jack russels. Those dogs would happily take on a rat almost half their size, seeing them toss them up in the air was amazing.

My problem at my holiday home in france is fat dormice in the roof, things are the size of a squirrel and look very similar, they only eat fruit and seeds but they like all rodents like to gnaw on stuff, they've even eaten through the drywall ceiling into the house a couple of times. I use poison and rat traps to keep the numbers down and willl eventyully block up the currently open eaves to stop them getting in.

Aren't door mice a delicacy ?

Sounds like a scene from Caddyshack. lol

My creative shenanigans pre-dated Caddy Shack. In fact I was hoping for attribution in the credits when I saw the movie.

I probably had the same witless face on that Bill Murray wore in the movie though:bounce:
