Thanks to finding this great site, many great posts and the great 1950's Craftsman Garage by Red Leader, I have discovered the idea of vintage tools and equipment instead of new plastic tools. I had never really thought about it before, but these vintage tools are so much better! I thought I would share my first couple of purchases.

I prefer not to think of it as a bug, but more of a monkey.
Monkeys are cuter than bugs. Chicks dig Monkeys. :D

Vintage tools are great because their usually USA made, more durable, and to me at least, tell a story.

I like to think of what the tool has seen, who has used it, what was it used for, stuff like that.

I got really hooked bad when I started collecting vintage snap on ratchets

My first Hello to everyone. I too collect vintage tools, especially antique sandstone grinding wheels. I weld and make big statues. I also do a fair bit of work on vintage cars. I have found a lot of sound advice here on this site, usually helps when I am stuck on a problem. Bye for now, see you in the shed!

I agree, the vintage tools are wonderful, and some have a story to tell.

They are the best out there-well 99% of the time. They are better made, last longer, and usually less expensive than the **** made today. If you must buy, buy the best.

To me vintage is not a bug, its an obsession. Check out my youtube for some restores and mods to some stuff I have acquired.

Most of the vintage stuff is easily rebuilt to new operating condition which is usually 2x better than anything new.
