Late Spring in Louisiana...Lord, I think I'm melting. :eyecrazy:

I need to rewire a circuit. Got to put some 8/3 in, replacing old wire. I've got some 10/2, but I think I'd better use the 8/3.
Trying to keep from shocking myself to death. Will it be enough to switch off the breaker and the disconnect at the pole first?

Thanks.

Personally: if you are not comfortable doing this type of work, you probably should not be doing it at all...

But yes, turn off both the main and that circuit's breakers should keep you alive, but you should test to make sure there is no power there anyway. I've been doing this for years, and always put a tester on the circuit just to be sure when I'm doing things where I'm not 100% sure of the configuration.

Flip the breaker off, put new outlet on, switch back on. What model is this welder? Almost any machine that comes with factory 50A plug will run from 10 wire. If this is a welder circuit and only for welder the 10 is fine. I looked at the machine after the fact,,, the 10 is adequate.
