I just picked up a set of Neiko stubby wrenches in sae and metric for $40 shipped. I don't use Stubbys often so I'm not worried about something supper high quality. It was a decent price so I jumped on it. I hope I didn't make a mistake.

Oh my gosh did you get screwed royally, big time (can you say bend over time); why you could have talked to "Big Mike" the local loan shark at the corner of 3rd & High, he could have got them for you at cost because "they somehow fell off the truck when it turned on 2nd & High.

Of course the interest would kill you over the next forty years or so,enjoy them while you are still young and your legs are not broken...

Funny question but think about this way let's say they are junk (although that would be unfair) if you use them one time and they fail then yes junk would come to mind.

Lets say you used them a dozen times and they saved your rear end then no they are not junk.

I can see that you are worried so next time spend some more money and pick up a better set from one of the truck companies and if they should fail just return them.

Not that you will sleep any better at night but it costs more money to fill up your car so don't lose any sleep over the cheap price; or having to pay a loan shark for hand tools:(

Neiko has been around at least 5 years now. A local autoparts store, stocked and sold them for a while. It wasn't untill someone tried to turn something in under the warranty that they had problems. Don't see a website or mailling address readily available on the net. And yes it's foreign stuff. (although the stuff I looked at, is better quality then HF)

We nicknamed them NikeMyDough.
IV BEEN HUNTING THESE GUYS DOWN...(NEIKO) i have found the actual maker of at least the NEIKO tachs also known as NICETY among other names . i was looking at the laser tach and wanted more info and started my jurnrny hunting for them the real company and factory is
Zhejiang Kangle Group.
owned buy the chinese govt. and have several accociated other companies they disperse product through with many different names ......damn it took a while to hunt them SOB down.

I have one neiko tool, and its a lifetimes worth, never buying another one. Looks ok, feels like junk.
Can you cancel the order or refuse delivery and do a charge back? That is what I'd be doing. And in the future, GOOGLE is your friend!

I would say to wait until you have looked at and felt them before deciding if you are going to keep them. $40 isn't a big risk. What is the return policy for the place they came from?

7 day return policy(ebay). If they feel ok and look decent ill probably hold on to them. Like i said they wont get used much, im just tired of needing a stubby and not having any. Even the craftsman stubby wrench's in sae were $49 the last time i looked and another $49 for the metrics. Im not a tight *** but i cant justify that for some tools that might get used a couple times a month and on top of that they were still only craftsman's.

10-19mm Polished Chrome set from Northern Tool $17.99. 7, 8, 9, 20, 21 and 22mm available for purchase separately. I've been happy with the set I bought. Really nice quality for the money.

They have "Surace Drive" which is a rip off of "Flank Drive". Unless you put a cheater on a wrench that small, the "Surface Drive" really won't be needed, but I'm sold on "Flank Drive" from my Snap-on wrenches and sockets.

Neiko is a Chinese import.

Since its a Chinese import, the wrenches are junk.

However, junk can still get the job done. I think your mindset is sound. I can't imagine too much going wrong with stubby wrenches. How much torque can you put on a 4" stubby? 15-20 ft lbs? Maybe.

if i was gonna spend 40$ on chinese stubbys, i'd pony up another 20$ and get ratcheting gear wrenches... not like you get a lot of leverage with a stubby....

FWIW, The Northern hydraulics wrenches are Danaher made (same as Gearwrench). They probably arent too bad for the money.

I use stubby's often and can put a fair amount of torque on them (mostly larger sizes, 3/4+) but not enough to where the open end would spread. they are really hard to screw up/break, IMO.

I say see how they look and if they are not "lobster clawed" or have other such issues, they will probably be fine. What sizes does the set include?

How many piece set? If it is a 7 pieces set, you could have go to pep boys and picked up a set made in taiwan for 11 dollars if there is one close by. They are power built, and all trade is the importer. Decent quality, and you really can not go wrong for 11 dollar and 22 for both sae and metric. Or you can go to Lowes and get a 7 piece set for 24 dollars. And it is super easy with kolbalt warranty at lowes. And if you need to you can build out the 7 piece set at lowes and be right around 50 dollars as well.

Unfortunately, I have some of there pliers. They aren't good....I hate them actually! I have a set of mini's I got from Lowes and they are good except they have high sizes (start at 12mm...only 9.99 at the time.) They are Taiwan and the exact same tool as the Titan that tend to be cheaper. Just my 2 cents.

I seen some of tekton, their is buying cheap and buying value. The chinese tekton are cheap. The taiwan stuff is value ;) That was why napa gave them away, no value for them to sell them.

Take a look at them before you judge. I have some "junk" stubby's I picked up from HF. These are several years old and are the Pittsburgh Pro spline versions. I would stack these up against ANY brand. Now maybe I'm lucky and got a 1 in a million set, but they are tough as nails, finish is fantastic and they work. Saved my **** more than once. IIRC I paid $9 for each set. (SAE and mm)

Pittsburgh are made in taiwan and are much better quality then the chinese stuff. It is the same as the powerbuilit and other taiwan tools in quality. The non pittsburgh are hit and miss.

To me personally, it's not always about how "strong" a tool is. Heck I couldn't imagine breaking ANY stubby wrench. How well a wrench grabs fasteners, how tight it fits, feels in the hand, etc, etc. are more important in most cases to me.
