Another good auction day, well actually 2 days since they divided the auction into 2.

I have been keeping my eye out for good tool deals and I think I did okay on this one.

Everything together was right around $1200 including fees.

I will be passing all these vises and some of the other stuff along to others who can use them.

Pickup is on Monday so I will be bringing them back to the shop and over the next few months I will be cleaning them up, painting them and putting them up for sale.

I have a feeling you are going to **** in a major way if you tell us the price. The IR air grinder was $200+ 10 years ago.

I was watching that auction and I was planning on bidding on a vise and disc sander. You snooze you lose! I forgot to add it to my calendar to remind me to bid.

We interrupt this program for a news flash...Today in the black void of space and Time vises began disappearing from the Duluth MM. Area; if you spot one please report it asap to the local Police Dept. it seems like one man is responsible for the large vise heist a notorious vise napper named Big Ed the Thumper last known address 68 mockingbird lane if you see him hide any tools...That is all for now.

I'm in the same boat. Hell I've been just trying to find ANY good size USA vise around here and can't find anything good. Awesome score

I bid on one and lost. A 975. But not the ones in MN. Nice haul, there is very little big iron to be found in the north woods so unloading them should be very easy.

Wow. Nice score!

One thing I would suggest...you may not want to restore all the vises. A lot of collectors / guys looking for a vintage USA vise want to find one "in the rough", so that they may either restore it themselves as a project, or keep it as is.

I personally would not be inclined to buy a vise that someone else had restored. But of course there are many that would want to.

Maybe restore the ones that already have been repainted? The "bare" ones sure look sweet with that nice brown patina of oil/grease/ and time...

In any case, I'm jealous, especially being a Prentiss guy!

Those prentiss vises they had all looked cherry too. I should have gone after the couple 94s they had in the local auction. Good mix of years too.

Nice! I'm gonna be thinking about those vise pics tonight when I'm drilling the wife. :)

Tomorrow I have an appointment to pick up my anvil. The guy said he's got 8-10 vises I can have. Doesn't know what they are. Just "big and old." And he's got a barn FULL of tools and smithing gear I can have if I'm willing to dig it out. Gonna be hard to sleep tonight!

I'd be interested in the milling cutters and the drill chuck, assuming they are for sale.
The chuck I'm keeping , I may pass along some of the end mills, I will know more next week after I pick everything up.
Interested in a vice, and I'm local
Send me a pm

You have issues :)

If you're looking to sell some of those 2MT drills, I'd be interested in some.
I may pass along some of them have to see what is all there.
