I know another Compressor Question !!!

I just bought a 7.5 HP Compressor and am wiring it up and am curious as to what size breaker and wire you guys here suggest. I was going to use a 60 amp breaker and #6 wire in emt to wire it to a 60 amp fused disconnect switch. Is this to much overkill???

You need a 7.5 or greater HP disconnect switch. Amps is immaterial here.
IIRC, I found a 15 HP disconnect for mine for under $20.

I wired mine (7.5 HP, 240V) using 6 gauge romex, on a 30A breaker. It has not tripped yet, and I've had it for 5 years.

Use 1.78 x Full Load Amps to size the breaker. Looks like you are correct going with 60

As rlitman said, any disconnect u use needs to be horsepower rated equal to or greater than 7.5HP...

How far away is the breaker panel?

U will need to hardwire it.

Does it have a starter?

I am hardwiring it and it is about 30 feet from breaker box. It does have a magnetic starter and the disconnect switch is an Eaton DG222NGBP. I know i don't need the switch but its a case that I want one there.

I cannot find the horsepower rating on that swtich, but I also cannot imagine it being insufficient. My guess is that it's printed somewhere on the label inside the cover.

Sounds like you've got everything in order. Yes, a 60A breaker would be appropriate. I happened to use a 30A on mine, because I had one handy and didn't feel like buying a breaker, and have been lucky it hasn't tripped yet, but having that 6 gauge wire is probably why I've gotten by.

Another quick question what amp fuses should I use? I have seen people use dif amps than what the box is rated.

There's no need for fuses at all in this application.
You could put 60A fuses in there, or larger. Or get dummy fuses. Whatever's cheapest would be fine.

Best practice is to use the contactor to switch off then operate the isolator switch off-load.
