OK just finishing up my shop expansion and need to wire it up. Overall picutres can be found at http://www.jamminjeep.net/shop/

Right now I have a 200amp service on a service pole about 37' away from shop. The service has the meter and main breaker panel serving the main house.

I want to put a 100amp sub panel in the shop ran from this main breaker panel. The wire will be in conduit buried. My plan is to put a 100amp breaker in the main panel and run to the panel with the circuits. What size wire would I need to run to the sub from the main? Again say 60' feet taking into account the extra lentgh to go down into the ground and back up at the shop. Located in central/south Florida

Thanks for the help.

Dave

Isnt there a website that calculates for voltage drop and the correct size wire to use by including travel distance.

Ya there is but ultimatley it is your inspector is who you have to please.
Inspection is not expensive and let them tell you what they want to see.
