I don't recall the model number, but the folks I know who've bought such a cabinet SB from HF have usually upgraded the gun at a later date.

i have that one but with legs and it works great. lights could be brighter, but overall super happy. one of the better HF things i have bought. with a good compresser it works wonders. i dont even dry my air first LOL also just use playground sand that was dry. i have a shop vac hooked up to it that i place outside and that keeps the dust down.

I too have the stand up unit. Its AWESOME! Definitely my favorite HF purchase. Was only about $170 when it was $219 with a 20% off coupon. Can't beat that price. I think its $330 at Tractor Supply.

Cant even build a decent one for that price. I'm still using the original gun. Works fine.

In fact, I just blasted the fork legs on my motorcycle with glass bead. It's awesome. I now sandblast every thiny thing I can think of. Makes life a lot easier. Just make sure you have a good compressor. At least 10cfm+. Otherwise not sure I'd bother.

I just put a cheap HF water separator before the cabinet. Haven't had any moisture issues yet - but now that it's getting hotter and more humid out, who knows.

I've got one of the $200ish stand up ones, been very pleased with it, in fact I've considered getting another one. Most of what I do is aluminum 2 stroke engine parts so I use the plastic bead media from TPTools. There are times when I'd like another blaster around with courser abrasive.

A buddy of mine had one (the $89 one that you posted)

Really, save yourself the aggravation, it was a total POS, leaked like a sieve, gun was terrible, practically useless.

Did he hook a vacuum to it? I think pretty much anything will leak some without a vacuum. Also, if it leaked terrible, it would be simple to caulk it up.

I wear a mask when blasting even with the vacuum on..Some dust will inevitably make it out.

I think it's a good value....unless your going to use it every day...

As for the gun....it's been my experience that the problem was the sand and not the gun....I have a pretty decent portable unit...if I try using play ground sand...it's going to get clogged....if I use a good #30 sand....no issues...

I have seen some good DIY systems around. It might be a good idea to look at those and some of the better commercial units before you buy.

I have one, I use it for die grinding with burrs. I carve metal with them and HATE metal burs in my hair and clothes. For that it would be worth twice that, I have never user it as a blaster.

I also have the HF that has worked fine for a few years. Have a friend with the same one that uses it daily in his hot rod shop, he also considers it a great buy.

I have one very similar to this, put it on wheels and a nice shelf, I treat it like a baby treats a diaper, and it has worked great. Its all in your compressor/dry air/nozzles, etc.
