Feeling a little overwhelmed with the options and not having success coming to a decision.

I would appreciate some direction on what is the right solution for my garage floor. Floor has had cracks filled and sealed and been ground, so the prep is complete and it is a blank canvas.

Here are my needs:

I will weld on it
I will roll jacks, tool chests, and stools on it
If automotive fluids spill, I want to be able to clean it up
I'd like to have a high gloss finish
I won't tolerate peeling/tears

It seams like a multi layer epoxy is probably the right option, but I keep seeing lots of positive feedback for a tile system like Race Deck. The cost and self install ability of the tiles is appealing as well.

HELP GET ME SORTED :)

I'll try and make it easier for you:

Forget the plastic tiles if you are welding. I don't think you'll get a high gloss floor that way, either.

Do the epoxy. You've already done most of the heavy lifting in getting the floor prepped. The incremental cost of the epoxy is probably going to be less than plastic tile at this point.

Go with a high quality epoxy like Legacy Industrial. Follow their system to prime and seal to get the gloss you want.

Now quit agonizing and go do it.

Nothing will hold up to welding except porcelain tile and I'm not sure the gloss wouldn't be damages by the slag. I would also recommend going with a high quality epoxy with urethane top coats and using some welding mats in the area you will be doing the welding.

:shocking: You are 100% correct

I might consider a full broadcast or color quartz system anyway just because especially the quartz will be a little more resistant.

Talk to some of the ceramic tile fans, might be a good option too

I used an industrial epoxy, and I do all the things listed except "high gloss finish" which I don't care one whit about. Agree with LLC - if you scatter some flakes and forget to put down a blanket, then you'll likely never see any welding pits.

As for peeling/tears - as you'd imagine, floor prep is key. I just performed an "accidental" burnout on mine while testing converter stall and it's all good except for the pile rubber on the floor. Prep apparently went A-OK.
