It was a $23 adaptor. Since that amount does not seem to bother you, please post your paypal account login and password. I will only take a little.

Thievery *****, don't get me wrong, but I think some people are taking this too far. If someone is holding you up/breaking into your house/trying to kill you, fine, defend yourself as you see fit. I have no issue with gun ownership, open or concealed carry or defending your self and loved ones. Keyword is defending though.

But all this talk about putting unarmed petty thieves at gunpoint when they try to lift an adapter? Especially with other innocent people around that could be hurt by a stray bullet if you actually fired? I'm not seeing how an overpriced adapter outweighs the human life of anyone, including the criminal. :headscrat

Besides that, a smart criminal isn't going to get caught and almost all of those who do would sooner call your bluff than empty their pockets and prove their guilt. What are your plans when the guy just turns his back and walks off the truck with your property? Shoot him? Walk off after him with a gun drawn? Other than defending yourself if you're assaulted, I don't see how having the gun is going to stop the criminals who call your bluff. I can see plenty of ways that it will get you into far more trouble than the tool is worth. :dunno:

And, for the record, no, you can't have my PayPal information either. Just because I think something is of insignificant cost, doesn't mean I'm automatically going to buy it. Don't make the cardinal mistake of confusing ability to pay with willingness to pay.

First, the only reason I mentioned open carry is as a deterrent to crime. I am well aware of the laws and consequences of the use of force. I have been robbed at gunpoint and I tend to take my self defense and defense of property very seriously. I have carried concealed for over 4 years now and have not revealed my weapon once. I fully understand the difference between petty theft and aggravated robbery or assault. I tend to get frustrated when people talk about a theft and say “it was only X amount of dollars”. My response to that type of statement is always, “Well, if it was only X amount of dollars, why don’t you just pay me for it.” I use this forum to vent sometimes. I don’t think you guys need to worry about a reading a news story about a Snap-on man going on a shooting rampage anytime soon. But I will take steps to further secure and defend my overpriced (as you call it) inventory.

Yeah, no-one ever said Chad should shoot the guy over it. We went on to the subject of protecting your property and defending yourself. No-one is condoning shooting someone over a $23 adapter.

Whether it's $23 or $230 doesn't matter. In this case it's $23 that Chad's lost because some scumbag thought he shouldn't have to pay for it. It's the principle and the fact that Chad is $23 out of pocket. As he's said, if you think it's such an insignificant amount, maybe you should reimburse him for it.

Like anything, it may start small, but could grow into something much bigger.

Eh, I'm all for it, anyway. If more people got shot for stealing petty things, there would be a lot less scumbags to worry about in this country. Instead, we give them 3 square meals, cable tv, ball courts, and a weight room to get stronger and better for the next time.

True, but killing someone over a $12 adapter would be quite ridiculous. Considering the prices those Snap On folks charge their customers, they should be shot!

Why does Snap On charge 2x the cost to "regular" folks but the Industrial side and students pay regular price?

What an ignorant thing to say. This person is screwing around with his lively hood. The way he provides for his family. If he did shoot him, then so be it, the guy is a thief and put himself in that position. Like Chad said, since its so little money, why don't you pay for it.

Chad, Sorry to hear that. Definitely get a camera system. I know a guy who bought some fake security cameras and mounted them on the truck... not sure how well it works, but I guess if they think they are being watched.

I made it to page 3 and got to anxious to make it through...

It ***** to have anything stolen from you, especially something from your dwelling (you probably spend more time in that truck than your home). Ive had my car broken into several times and it really is hard to describe that feeling in any other way besides "violated". Unfurtunately I think if you stopped allowing customers on the truck as some as suggested you would almost immeadietely see a drop in sales. Lets face it, thats why you guys try and get us to come out to the truck and look around. But not everyone that "fingers" the merchandise is looking to rip ya off. I love looking at the stuff, but when you actually hold it you get a feel for the quality.

Anyways if you're looking for a IWB holster, take a look at the crossbreed super tuck
http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/
Its absolutely the most comfortable holster Ive worn. Its even better than some of the poorly designed OWB holsters. I carry a xD9 and the only time I have to readjust is when I sit down, I have to "clock" it forward a bit.

I looked it up and it said $12 something, but I must have been logged in under my account or something if it's $23 your price.

Thinking about killing someone over $20 is ridiculous. Yes, I agree in a perfect world people shouldn't steal, but hey, some parents didn't beat their kids hard enough I guess.

$20 is a freaking write off considering the amount of stuff on that truck and sales made in a day.

What's your address, I'm mail you a damn check if it gets you to **************** about it!

Thanks for the holster advice. My carry setup is a Kahr MK9 Elite 2000 with a backpocket holster from www.pocketholsters.com. It works good for me and conceals very well. If the law ever changes in Texas I will re-evaluate. Despite what some seem to have assumed based on what they have posted, I have put a lot of thought into my personal protection.

Did I ever mention shooting someone over this? I mentioned open carry as a deterrent. I have also said I know the difference between petty theft and aggravated robbery. Read what I have posted and not everyone elses comments.

chadster1,

What else have you had stolen over the years?

The biggest thing that I know was stolen was a set of 1/2 drive impact wobbles. 310IPLMY, it is now a discontinued set but I beleive it had a $400 list. I know I have had single sockets stolen off of the magnets over the years but this is really the first time in 6 years that I have been able to pinpoint a theft so quickly. That is a definite benefit of the larger truck. I definitely lose more money on skips than I do to shrinkage. I still try to minimize my losses whenever I can.

Just like you reach back and get your wallet, palm of the hand toward the body, **** of the gun to the back, sights to the front, The pistol is pulled up and forward, muzzle clearing the right side and brought forward.

Edit: Remember that this is an INSIDE the pants holster. You are looking at the side away from the body.

Is the loop that is retained by the two rivets, designed to drape over the top, outside of the pants and have the belt thru it?

There is nothing i hate worse than a Thief, They are scum. When people come into my shop i make them both stick with me at all times, No splitting up. I had 2 drifters come in one time and while 1 was in the back asking questions the other was filling his pockets. I dont care if i offend someone i will flat out ask them to stick together or stay outside. As hard as it is to take, I guess we should both expect some loss when your dealing with the public. Whether it be you warranting a misused tool or someone flat out stealing from you. It ***** but this is the world we live in i suppose. Btw how do you like that back pocket holder? Is it hard to remove the Pistol? In his videos he removes it fairly easily but he is also holding onto the bottom with his hand, but in your pocket that wouldnt work.

Nate,

I probably posted more about concealed carry in this thread than Chadster. Did you bother reading any of his or my posts? The only thing remotely like what you claim is when I told a fellow member that the law in Texas ALLOWED you to defend your property but that 99.999 percent of the people out there would not consider it. Everything we were talking about was for PERSONAL SAFETY not for shooting some idiot over a $23.00 adapter.

I have carried for over 30 years and in that ENTIRE time I have pulled my weapon ONCE. I hope that I never have to again and that sentiment has been echoed by every permit holder that I have ever talked to. Everyone cares about personal safety but how we implement that plan varies according to your beliefs. As long as they are legal, I don't care how anyone protects their family.

Charles,

That is the way the executive defender works. If someone knows what to look for and you have your shirt tucked in, the two loops are visible. If my shirt needs to be tucked in, I hide them with my cell phone. That method does require a two hand draw however as the left hand must pop the shirt out while the right grips the firearm.

Most of the time I will wear a loose untucked shirt. If I need to go with a tucked in shirt for an extended length of time, I use the Versa Max holster with the Kydex clips. The shirt is "tucked" into the clips and "bloused" a little to hide the clips.

Your only problem is that "so little" is relative. That makes the argument circular, because there's always someone with more.

A real argument would be to explain why you think $23 is worth anyone's life. Or maybe an argument for how the margin on a $23 adapter is going to make or break anyone's living. Of course nobody seems able to make those kinds of argument, so the straw man route looks to be the next best thing, hence its popularity.

I mentioned open carry as a deterrent. I have also said I know the difference between petty theft and aggravated robbery. Read what I have posted and not everyone elses comments.

If I recall correctly, you also said that it was common knowledge you were carrying concealed and you still got ripped off. Do you believe having the weapon in plain sight would have made any difference to the thief? Knowing that you had it concealed obviously didn't stop anyone. :dunno:

Just an observation, not trying to be an ***.

On a positive note though, I think your idea to go the camera route is going to be much more effective than having a gun in plain sight. I would make it insanely obvious that they were being filmed though, because some criminals are far too stupid to figure it out on their own. :lol_hitti

....and it is pretty much common knowledge that I am armed....

so let me get this straight; you'd consider shooting someone who stole a socket adapter worth $23.50?

so how does that make you better than the kid who kills someone for the same amount in a robbery?

oh; the old "he stole from me" argument. and we wonder where values have gone. no, we're certainly not a materialistic society.

You speak of "values" but yet accuse Chad of considering shooting someone for stealing a $23 dollar item. If you have time could you go find that quote from chad in this thread, I have read this thread over and over and have yet to see him reference shooting someone. He has made it clear to his customers that he is armed as a deterent etc. You should really check your own "values" before you judge someone.

well, I would. A thief is a thief. in for a penny, in for a pound

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, It is the whole reason CCL is so attractive and a proven winner. Its not because we have everybody who is carrying shooting in the streets and flaunting there guns to everyone. Its the uneducated, flapping there jaws when they really dont have a clue what is happening inside this thread let alone the world.

I am sorry, what thread did you read? Please quote me where I have said something about shooting anyone.

I will make the same statement I have made to someone elses earlier in this thread. Since $23.50 seems to be a trivial amount to you, my paypal address is [email protected] and I will even provide you with a receipt so that you can have the write off that someone else seems to think makes a loss ok.

What happened? I haven't been keeping up with this thread. :dunno:

Some people seem to think that since I am armed on my truck and I get pissed off when someone steals from me that I am going to go in a shooting rampage. I would really rather this thread get locked. It needs to be put out of its misery. That, and I just like poking fun at you. You seem to be a good sport.
