I lacquered my pliers

I have a small condensation problem in my garage. It takes a real toll on klein cutters and nippers when they're just sitting there not being used. So last night I took all my uncoated pliers and gave them a light coat of lacquer, like channellock does from the factory.

That is cool.....hopefully it works for you and it will cut down on the rusting on the pliers

What kind of laquer? Just some clear stuff (like Krylon) out of a spray can? How did you prep the pliers? Pics? This ideas sounds like it has a lot of promise!

I used to do stuff like that years ago, these days I just get a thin coat of oil on em!

yep, oil. if your using spray bomb lacquer it may be porous. It will only slow the rust down

Just plain 'ol spray bomb lacquer. The can said it's "indoor/outdoor for metal and wood" and prevents corrosion. I doubt it'll keep them rus free forever, but it will at least slow it down. I didn't get fancy with prep work or anything, just cleaned them with alcohol, drop of oil in the hinge, and some masking tape on the handles and knives.

I believe if you spray your tools once every 2 years you will be fine...maybe even 3 years
