So recently I had back to back freebies given to me.
I had this older LincolnArc TIG welder given to me by a metal fabrication business. They said it works, so on my next day off, I'll pick up a few pieces for the torch and give it a go.
Anyone know anything about these machines?

The next day, I pulled a boat for a buddy of mine to his friends house several hours away. As we were standing in his garage, I complimented his vintage bandsaw. He asked if I wanted it, so I said "YES!" He claims it was an older meat bandsaw.
Anyways, happy to have both items.

I don't think thats a meat saw. The throat is too small. That old welder is awesome. Does it have HF start?

Also, you ****.

Awesome freebies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope the welder isn't a 3 phase.

It has a "soft start" switch. Is that the same?

It's single phase.

I really haven't had an opportunity to look either item over too closely. Been busy with work and family. I plan on firing both machines up this weekend.
I'll report back with how things works!

The bad. The old Tigs are insanely power hungry and inefficient. Hopefully you have good power service and heavy wiring. They also are heavy and take a ton of space. If you have problems, parts are unattainable or insanely expensive. Unfortunately that is why so many of these machines are retired.

The good. They have a sweet arc. I have used that machine before. It had a really nice smooth arc. You will enjoy welding with it.

I also doubt the bandsaw was made for meat cutting. How about a few more pictures such as the guides? Does it have tires? Usually a meat bandsaw will have a lot of stainless and be made to be disassembled for easier cleaning. Your free might be even better.

Most of the meat bandsaws I have seen have a table that slides. You situate the meat on the table then slide the table past the blade rather than trying to push the hunk of meat across a surface.

So I finally got around to firing up the big ol' Lincoln TIG.
First I took the cover off to investigate and found a dead rat inside which I removed.
Went and purchased some 3/32 Tungsten and Al feeder rod.
The old gal fired right up.
My first ever bead with a TIG.

And here is the inside of the bandsaw. No gear reduction so it must be the wood saw. Also noticed the PO installed a Craftsman motor

A wise man once said "Free is a VERY good price!" Portland GJ'ers may know who I mean.

Those are some nice aquisitions for sure the OP got.
Yep. Tom Peterson..... remember him well.
I've just never felt good taking something for nothing and couldn't do it, I always had to give them some cash anyway, but I very much like finding great deals and have a shop and garage full of them. Talked nobody down on price on any of it simply because the price was so low, so I think that way everyone feels good about it when the deal is done. I ended up with a B414 tractor with a front loader, a hydrostatic 1256 Bolen's garden tractor with a blade, tiller and mower deck, a sweet running and driving 2005 Neon, a hydrostatic newer White riding mower just in the last 4 months for a mere $1250.00 for all of it. All but one were bought from strangers. It's amazing what's out there if you hunt for it.

Great scores OP . . . . most worthy of YOU **** !!! . . .

Wow, with that beast of welder that lays down nice dimes, I'd sure look into getting the gear reduction for bandsaw so you could cut METAL . . . & not meat ;). Then you'd be pretty much all set to fabricate away.

Also, please don't tell us next that you got a free plasma cutter !! :D
